Moral Dilemma

Two nights ago we came home to find the lights on over at our house. Or should I say the bank's house since we have been moved out for over a week now? Anyway, my son caught me before I even got out of the car and told me that water was pouring out the front door. I grabbed my flashlight and headed across the street to take a look.

Not only was water coming out of the front door, it was also flowing out from underneath the garage door and the back door. I looked in the windows and could see that the entire house was completely flooded. There have been people over there working the past few days so I don't exactly know what happened.

I couldn't get in because the bank has changed all the locks on the doors. So, I found myself in a predicament. I could walk away and let the water continue to flood the house until someone came around the next morning (if they came at all) or I could walk out to the water pump and turn off the switch.

Hmm... what to do? The bank hasn't exactly cut us any breaks. Why would I want to help them out? I have to say I struggled with this a little. In the end though, I turned off the switch. It might not be my house any more but I couldn't let my bitterness over the foreclosure dictate my actions.
