A little venting

Still waiting for a bomb to drop.

Since those emails from the wife came and went there has been no more discussion about the matter. Maybe with her keeping busy, and in turn keeping me busy, she is feeling back in control again.

She had been wanting to repaint inside the house for some time, then two or three weeks ago she just suddenly states I want to buy paint and we can start painting every room in the house.

We currently have a multitude of colors throughout the house and she wants to paint every room antique white. Okay, fine.

She has been able to recruit our younger daughter (who still lives at home) to help paint. The wife's big idea is we will do one room every weekend, and doing it on only one day of the weekend. In theory this is a good idea, in actual practice it means every weekend is consumed with painting the inside of the house. We have 11 rooms to paint, that is counting two hallways as rooms.

So, I am pretty well booked now for the rest of the year!

I know this all needs to be done, but...

And she makes it all sound like none of this will take much time. Since she is home all day she talked like during the week she could start to prep a room and work on the tie-ins then we paint one day of the weekend. That has yet to happen.

This last weekend I had a preplanned event to go to, a two hour photo walk. When I got hope she wanted to go on and get started prepping the room, i.e. take everything off of the walls, putty any holes, remove shelves, etc. So we did. Made for a long day. When we went to bed I asked what time she wanted up to get started in the morning. She said she didn't want to set an alarm, so that we could sleep in a bit.

I knew that was a mistake, but this is her party, I am just along for the ride.

We ended up sleeping in until simetime around 9 or 10 am. Then figure in a little wake up time, get something to eat time, we finally got around to start painting around noonish.

Just like on previous weekends we didn't get wrapped up actually painting until around 8:30 that evening. Which meant we had to go out and grab something to eat, come home and at the least re-hang the curtain rods so that we could close off the windows. And we are still in the process of putting the room back in to order, re-hanging pictures, shelves, etc.

And the real fun rooms are still to come. Have I mentioned.....I hate painting? And with this being her project somehow I am the main person doing the actual painting...I am also doing the majority of the prep work as well; filling wall holes, removing vents, shelves, fan blades, spray painting the vent covers (after she runs them through the dishwasher), masking off anything that needs masking, etc. The wife and the daughter are just painting the trim and painting the tie-ins while I roll the rest of the entire rooms.

I know, I know, this is all classic husband duties and I shouldn't be bitching.
