Little Butterfly, by Marguerite Wright

Fluttering wings,
gentle breezes borne.
shades of life upon the wind
blinking in the morning light
throwing fragile shadows
to touch reality
with stuttering speed
across a ray of light
beauty so dear,
so startlingly clear,
as it silently alights upon our path.
Ephemeral, undaunted,
fragile beast beating in time with life's symphony
How lightly you touch time and space
leaving an indelible impression,
seared memory upon our souls.

This poem was written for my little friend Melanie, an incredible little girl with the spirit of a warrior and the soul of an angel.
