My Life Thus Far
I Just Want To Be Strong
As I was driving home from work yesterday evening, I couldn't help but reflect on how great I feel and be thankful that I'm not feeling like I got hit by a freight train like I did last week. Little did I know, I'd still end up falling asleep on the couch by 7:30pm. I think the lesson here would be, don't sit down on the couch unless you're ready to pass out cold. Snookums helped me to bed and I slept until 7:30am. I guess everyone needs 12 hours of sleep every now and then.
I've been doing some soul-searching the past couple days. I looked at my schedule and at the rate I'm going, I won't have another day off until possibly the 21st of June. Or maybe even the 23rd. That's 11 or 13 days straight of work. I love my jobs. It's nothing I can't handle, but I want time with my family, too. A full day now and then, I don't think that's asking too much. So, as sad as it makes me, I was thinking the most logical move would be to stop working at the Bremerton Y. I only work one day a week there and if I eliminate that shift I'd have Saturdays off, which would be perfect. I could have a dedicated relaxation day or a family outing day. I was thinking about this while I was getting ready for work in the locker room yesterday. Just as I came to my conclusion, Rhonda poked her head around the wall and said "Oh, I forgot to tell you, there's two staff recognition cards for you in your file". Way to make it harder on me, Rhonda! I love the Bremerton Y, because that's where I lost my weight and got in shape. I'm pretty much a local celebrity there and I do love all of the staff. I'll probably still work out there (at least most of the time), but at some point I'm going to have to tell them that I need to be taken off the schedule. I have no idea when I'll woman up and do it. I work there today, but I bet you I won't do it today...
Everyday at Haselwood, we get in new equipment. Yesterday we got indoor rowing machines and a Jacobs Ladder. I haven't been enticed to workout there yet, but the Jacobs Ladder is definitely a little enticing. Once there's foam rollers (for myofascial release) I might be persuaded to work out there. Just because there is equipment that I can't get at Bremerton. The good news is, Bremerton is slated for a complete renovation! I'm hoping that nothing changes but the equipment, otherwise I'll have no reason to stay there. If the comfortable atmosphere totally changes, then I might as well go to the more convenient Y. Oh goodness, the Y has taken over my life...
Because of my hectic schedule, I haven't been feeling like I'm getting in the kind of workouts I like. Although I'm getting in lots of activity because of the orientations I do, I haven't been sculpting my target muscle groups as well as I'd like. I don't need to lose weight, but I do want to tone up some more, get rid of the cellulite on my legs and butt and lower my over-all body fat percentage. Those are my new goals. Being lighter is a happy by product of having lower body fat, but if I'm building muscle on top of it, then my weight might not change. I don't care about that. I'm about 145 pounds, which at 5'7" (with a whole lot of muscle on board) ain't too shabby :) I used to want to be skinny, but that's not my body type and I don't want that anymore. I just want to be strong and embrace my natural shape.
