Organic Virgin Coconut Oil

There isn't a bad thing I can say about my day. It was FANTASTIC having an entire day off! Even if I did spend it running errands :) I'm just thankful to have the time to take care of my family's needs like a mother should. Never do I want them to feel like I put my work or my personal interests before their needs. My babies will always be the reason behind everything I do...

I got a bit of a late start this morning. My phone kept ringing. The first call was from Jose. He wanted me to work 9am-5pm on Friday, but Haselwood's child watch rules suck and Snookums has to work. There's no way I could work that long and make sure Keenan's looked after. I politely declined. I didn't want to work that long, anyway. It's physically taxing working at a gym for 8 hours. The second call was from Harrison Hospital. Keenan's having his dental surgery on Thursday. They need to update his records. I've gotten a few calls from them, the only problem is every time they call me, I miss it and then when I call back, they don't answer. To make matters worse, they close at 2pm, so I can't seem to get ahold of the lady that keeps calling me. I'll try calling again first thing in the morning. I'm sure they wouldn't keep calling if it wasn't important, but they're department really needs another phone line. Just my opinion.

I had a good workout. It wasn't excellent, because I kept stopping to chat with people, but socializing is as good for the soul as exercise. That's part of what I love about being a YMCA member. So, in it's own way it was an excellent workout :) Snookums got off work early, so he took Keenan to therapy for me, so I could run my errands and get home earlier.

I stopped at Target to get Keenan's diapers. He's officially in a size 6, which means there is no bigger size. He'll have to start getting used to the idea of using the potty. He's somewhat aware of the potty. He's even used it a few times, but he's got a sentimental attachment to "diapy" (as he calls it). Kiki was potty-trained at his age and I worried that she was too old to still be in diapers. Somehow, he's still so baby-like that it seems okay. Well, it's okay with me.

My second errand was to stop by the kids' dental clinic to pay for Keenan's work. The $398 our insurance wouldn't cover. I've accepted it. It's a lot of money, but we're fortunate to have it and fortunate that we have insurance that paid the other $800 of it. I'll take all the help I can get! I had a long chat with one of my friends that works there (we went to dental assisting school together), which was nice. We talk on Facebook, but hardly ever see each other in person. We vowed to spend some time together soon (I hope it happens, we're both bad about making plans).

Grocery shopping was my last trip. The Bremerton Commissary is closed on Tuesday's, so I had to go to Bangor (another Naval base in the area). I don't normally shop at Bangor because Bremerton is closer, but the savings is enough to make it worth the little drive and since I had the day off, Bangor it was. It kind of irritated me to discover that a lot of the foods I love and can't get at Bremerton (Chobani Greek yogurt, various vegetables like Broccolini and Crimini mushrooms or orange bell peppers) are readily available at Bangor. The two Commissaries are only 20 miles apart. They should have similar inventories and Bremerton is larger, so more healthy foods would be great! I feel like after seeing Bangor that Bremerton has more isles of crap junk food and Bangor has more on the periphery (veggies, fruits, lean meats and dairy). Not fair :( Maybe I'll just have to break out of my comfort zone and start shopping at Bangor more.

While shopping I picked myself up a jar of organic virgin coconut oil. I've been meaning to try the stuff for awhile now, but haven't. I saw it at the Commissary today and grabbed in on a whim... I LOVE IT! I haven't cooked with it yet, but I've been rubbing it on my skin all evening. I feel so smooth and silky, surprisingly not greasy and I have the faintest scent of warm macaroons wafting around me. Not that I had much stress, but what little I did have (mainly surrounding Keenan's impending procedure) is gone. I read an article about the benefits of coconut oil at www.organicfacts.net, which was very enlightening. I had no idea it was so good for you! I'm glad I tried it. I will be getting another jar soon. At the rate I'm going, the jar will be empty from me rubbing it on myself and I'll never get a chance to try cooking with it :)

Wow, I was feeling chatty tonight! I need to get myself off to bed, though. It's back to work tomorrow. Not too hard of a day, though. Just 1pm-5pm at Haselwood, but it will drag if I don't get some decent sleep. Goodnight :)
