My Life Thus Far

Spirit, Mind and Body

My work schedule is trying to kill me! I'm not sure how long it will take me to get used to my new routine, but I hope it happens quickly because I've never been more physically exhausted in my life. On the plus-side, I've never been more mentally stimulated or emotionally gratified by a job. I LOVE working for the YMCA. Everyday I get to help people better themselves (spirit, mind and body) and reach their goals. It's more than just getting in shape. It goes much deeper than that. It's hard to explain...

I can't recall ever being this sore in my life. Even when I first started working out. I think I figured it out. When I do orientations, the first thing I do is demonstrate how the machine works. I set it to a much lower weight than I normally would lift, but if you multiply three reps by 10 or 11 orientations (each orientation includes 6 machines), that's quite a workout. My lats are on fire (among other things). I just have to give it time. Eventually my body will adjust and it won't be such a physical drain. When I get home in the evening I'm so tired. Today I got home around 2:30pm. My plan was to weed the garden, but instead I made the mistake of sitting down on the couch. 3 hours later I woke up wondering what had happened! I'm still sleepy, too.

Tomorrow morning when I do my workout I'm going to focus on legs. The only leg machine in the orientation circuit is the leg press, so my legs aren't sore. Just my upper half. So, that's the plan. Leg sled, jump rope, Smith machine (assisted squats), leg abductor/adductor, etc. Then a nice long bake in the sauna. I need some sauna time hardcore. No joke.
