Sentimental Value

I've had a really great day. I slept surprisingly hard last night and woke up feeling quite refreshed :) I slept in until 8:30am (yes, that's sleeping in for me) and kind of had an "oh crap! I overslept!" moment when I first opened my eyes, but I came to quickly and gathered my thoughts. Saturday; no school for kids; work at 12:15pm. Then I was able to ease into my morning...

Tomorrow is Annie's 12th birthday and because of my busy schedule, I hadn't gotten around to buying her any presents (I know, shame on me). I figured I'd stop by the mall and Target before work today to get her a few things. She told Snookums all she wanted for her birthday was a Barnes & Noble gift card, dinner at Olive Garden and a Facebook account (that one's not happening). So, I stopped by Aeropostale (her favorite clothing store) and got her some stuff (a couple hoodies, a necklace, 4 bracelets, a pair of jeans, two pairs of flip flops and a pair of little tennis shoes that look like the old-fashioned Keds I wore as a kid. I bought her a pair a few months ago and she's worn them to death!) I also got her the Barnes & Noble gift card she wanted. They also had this super-cute lap desk with an attached clipboard I thought she'd get a lot of use out of. She's always doing homework or writing stories in bed. This will give her a better, more stable workspace. I'm excited to give her her presents! We don't go all-out for birthdays, but I like to give a few thoughtful items (and whatever they want that's within reason).

At Target, I found the *perfect* birthday card for her! It plays "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack. I've sung this song to all of my babies thousands of times. Especially Annie. It was a brand new song when she was first born. I almost shed a tear. I'll admit, I got slightly misty-eyed when I read the card and then opened it and heard that special song. I hope she keeps it. I know at 12, things don't have the sentimental value that they do for older individuals, but I hope this card is special to her.

Saturday's are Bremerton Y days and my shift was like every other Saturday. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I truly enjoy what I do. I'm comfortable doing what I do and I look forward to it. I don't think you can ask more of a job. I hope I feel the same way about Haselwood, since I'll be spending so much time there!

Well, I've got some wrapping to do. I'd also like to take an Epsom salt bath (I'm a little sore, nothing to terrible) and I need to get to bed a decent hour tonight. I don't get to sleep in tomorrow :( I've got a store meeting (VS) at 8am. I hate the early morning meetings. Why we can't have meetings Sunday evenings, I'll never understand...
