Frugality Vindication

I'm experiencing frugality vindication today :) I got the kids' Easter outfits (all three of them), including shoes for a total of $50 and some change. Thank you Target, Ross and Old Navy! I love clearance racks! The girls' cute sun dresses were $6.99 each at Ross. I got Keenan a little suit (pants, vest, shirt, clip-on tie) for $8.49 (regularly $35). The girls' sweaters were $7.99 each with an additional 30% off of that at Old Navy and Target had cute little sparkly flats on sale for $10. I know I said I wanted to curb my spending, but there are some things I still have to buy (stuff for the kids). I didn't, however buy myself anything. I wanted to. I REALLY wanted to (especially at Old Navy), but I abstained.

When I was a teenager, I used to shop for clothes at thrift stores (Goodwill, Value Village). I loved vintage stuff. My favorites being men's sweaters from the 60's and 70's. I was thinking of maybe getting back into that (looking for interesting, yet timeless vintage stuff). I don't know. Knowing me I'd evolve from super-affordable thrift stores to uber-expensive couture boutiques. I just need to stop for awhile or all the extra space in my closet will turn back into that mountain of clothes on my bedroom floor I have nowhere to hang up.

Snookums called the doggie behaviorist that came to see Tanner last week. He was supposed to call us, but he didn't. Apparently he doesn't have space for Tanner now. Maybe not for months :( I won't lie and say I'm not disappointed. I was looking forward to a dog-free home, as bad as that sounds. I'm just not a dog person, but I do care about Tanner. So, today we tried to do a little grooming. Much to my surprise he LET me do it! Without much fuss and no biting, barking or growling. I brushed him, trimmed his face so he could see and gave him a bath. Snookums did something to his knee (neither of us are sure what), but he's not really capable of much movement, so I took Tanner for a walk, too. I used to walk him every day when we first got him (because I love the exercise), but then it got cold and rainy and I gave the job to Snookums. It's his dog, he can be cold and wet! Well, the weather is improving and Snookums is gimpy, so it looks like I'm back to dog walking. At least on the nights I'm not working.

It's a little after 11pm and I'm 2am exhausted. I guess tonight is as good a night as any to start working on that earlier bedtime I keep talking about, but never manage to accomplish :P
