My Life Thus Far

Shamelessly Domestic

I've wanted to write the past couple of nights, but the
problem was I didn't have all that much to write about!
While I'm content in my life, I'm not diluted enough to
think that the people who many stumble across my diary are
going to want to read endless entries on gluten-free
cooking, Zumba classes and my day-to-day meanderings as a
wife and mother. Some will, the majority won't. But to be
perfectly honest, my diary isn't written for everyone
else. That probably will be all I ever write about and I'm
okay with that :) A better reason for me not writing the
past couple days would be that I was just too busy doing
other stuff and didn't feel like taking the time to sit
down and write. What can I say? I'm honest.

Friday was another great day. After dropping Annie off at
school, I decided to take a little trip up to Poulsbo.
Central Market is the closest (and only, that I know of)
whole foods market in Kitsap County. Keenan needed some
more cereal bars and I wanted to pick up a couple more
packages of the cornbread mix he loves so much. I ended up
getting two more packages of cookie mix, some brownie mix
and some gluten-free chocolate chips (who knew regular
chocolate chips weren't gluten-free). $51.34 later and I
had a weekend of baking ahead of me! I'm still having
trouble getting over how expensive everything is. I'm just
thankful we're fortunate enough to be able to afford it. I
know there must be many Celiacs who aren't as lucky.

While I was at Central Market I got a text from Tamara (my
manager). She wanted to know when I was going to the gym.
I let her know I'd be there at 10am and that Zumba is at
10:45am and I wanted to see her there :) She wasn't too
keen on the idea of taking a class, but I convinced her to
give it a try. My Zumba class is relatively small and
filled with a diverse assortment of people. Young mothers,
middle-aged ladies and even a few seniors, all different
sizes and different levels of physicality. She fit right
in and ended up loving it! Knowing her schedule I don't
expect to see her in there often, but hopefully (since she
makes the schedule) she'll try to get to class at least
once a week.

The rest of Friday and all of Saturday were pretty routine
(I did go to the gym for a little bit on Saturday, but I
just did the weight circuit and relaxed in the sauna for a
few minutes). I've hung out with the family and enjoyed
being home. I'm still feeling like I'm on vacation from
work. They didn't use my Friday on-call and I'm not
scheduled again until Monday, so I've had 5 glorious days
off. It's beautiful :) Don't get me wrong, I've said it a
million times, I love my job (I wouldn't have stayed all
these years if I didn't), but I thoroughly enjoy being
home with the husband and kids more :)

Today is quiet and calm. The kids are especially calm.
Annie is in her room. Kiki and Keenan are asleep on daddy,
who is sitting on the couch watching football. I'm not
sure what I'm going to do with the rest of my day.
Probably bake up a batch of GF snickerdoodles. I'm
shamelessly domestic :) I've already figured out dinner
for tonight. We're having a huge salad. Chicken and baby
greens (spinach, butter lettuce, endive, romaine). It's
going to be good and light, especially since everyone is
being lazy :) Ciao!
