My Life Thus Far
What To Do About Sushi...
Last summer a family on my street transferred to Italy and
left their cat behind - just put her out and left (this is
the same family that called CPS on me, but that's water
under the bridge). The kitty has been managing fine on her
own all this time, but now she's pregnant and getting very
clingy. A few days ago she started sleeping in our lawn
chairs on the front porch and meowing at us whenever we
come and go. Annie has gotten attached (and named her
Sushi for some reason) and begged me to give her some food
and water. Since I've been pregnant I would assume she's
hungry. So, I put down a food and water bowl and fill it a
couple times a day. We also put our cat kennel out with a
towel in it just in case she wants somewhere enclosed and
warm to sleep. So far she's still sleeping in my chairs. I
checked her for fleas and didn't see any, but I gave her
some flea drops just in case. The kids are touching her
and she's about to have kittens. Who wants fleas hanging
around?
Tuesday she somehow got in the house. Zoe would get to the
top of the stairs and completely freak out. I couldn't
figure out why until I went downstairs for something else
and caught glimpse of a thin black tail coming out from
underneath Annie's bed (Sushi is an all-black short hair).
I looked under the bed and she gave me the most pathetic
little meow. I picked her up and put her back outside.
Then last night she snuck in while I was helping Sandy
take her sleepy boys home and went straight under my bed.
Strangely enough, Zeus hasn't hissed at her once and he's
the one that usually doesn't like intruders. Zoe is the
one with the problem, which in turn makes Sushi hiss.
Again, this morning Annie left to catch the bus and Sushi
squeezed in as she was coming out. I don't know what to do
about Sushi. She's doing her best to make herself at home!
I told Snookums about her and he says if I want to take
her in I can. She can have her kittens, wean them and then
we'll have her fixed. Part of me does want to keep her
because she's such a sweet kitty and she's in need, but
Zoe hates her and we've already got two cats, three fish,
three kids. Do I really want another responsibility? But
then this is a cat we're talking about. A little extra
scooping, a few more flea drops and a little extra food,
that's about it (until it's time to take everyone to the
vet). Sandy said when she has her kittens, she'll take one
and it wouldn't be too hard to find the other two homes
(it feels like there's three in there, from what we could
tell). I don't know, I'm still on the fence about it.
On a completely unrelated note, Snookie sent me an email
today saying he'll be home next month! He doesn't have to
go on the Tiger Cruise and is taking leave so he'll be
home the end of June instead of mid-July! Yea! Finally,
the end is getting near! Ciao.
