My Life Thus Far

There Are Some Days

Sometimes I amaze myself. I hate to admit it, but laundry
hasn't been done since Helena left. Over two weeks ago. I
rounded it all up, deposited it in the laundry room and
pretty much figured I'd never get it all done. Well, I
haven't gotten it all done, but there are only two loads
left. It's almost midnight, so they'll have to wait until
tomorrow, but considering I haven't been able to give it
my undivided attention today, I'm pretty proud of my
progress.

On top of tackling the laundry I got the cat room
disinfected, everybody's sheets changed, the downstairs
bathroom cleaned and the playroom picked up. Then I went
to the gym, came home - showered, carpooled Annie and Amy
to Girl Scouts, grocery shopped, stopped by Starbucks for
a Caramel Macchiato (because by 6:30pm I was starting to
fizzle out), picked the girls up and deposited everyone at
home. After the groceries were put away, the kids fed and
put to sleep and a couple of loads of laundry folded and
hung, here I sit. Feeling very pleased with myself :) I
don't mean to toot my own horn (who am I kidding? Yes I
do!), but there are some days even I don't know how I do
it.

Finally I can put the gas line construction behind me!
They hydro-seeded the front yard and washed the Impala
(because whenever it rained, the dirt yard threw all kinds
of mud all over the car's doors and tires). I wasn't
expecting them to do that, but I appreciate it. Sometime
this week they'll be installing new meters and will have
to come in to relight our pilot lights, but after that it
will really be over.

Census Takers are coming to Jackson Park starting tomorrow
through the 22nd. Just my luck I'll have contractors
traipsing through the house just as a census worker is
asking me a million questions (my least favorite being if
I consider myself black or white). Usually when it comes
to things of that nature I go with black even if I don't
identify myself as such (I don't identify myself as
anything). I like to think I'm doing my part to provide
additional funding for local programs.

I'm exhausted. I accomplished a lot today and it's late.
So, I think I'll be heading off to bed. Yes, I said bed.
No more couch. I'm always making Kiki sleep in her big
girl bed. I should follow my own advice and do the same :)
Ciao.
