My Life Thus Far

Not-So-Fashionably Late

I've got exactly 5 minutes until I have to leave. That is,
if I plan on meeting Gen for coffee on time for once. I'm
always not-so-fashionably late no matter how hard I try to
stay on time. Keenan's sleeping at the moment and I want
to give him a few more moments before I transfer him into
the car and get him all riled up.

Helena left a little before 8am this morning. I was
actually sad. I know I complain about her taking over when
she comes, but after being alone with the kids for the
past 3 1/2 months I hadn't realized how wonderful a break
could be! I got to take naps, go to bed early, NOT touch
the dishes, laundry, vacuuming, etc. It was like a mini
vacation in my own home. As I get older and the longer I
know Helena the more I appreciate her and her views on
things. After all, she is 62 years old. She's got a little
life experience on me.

I got on the scale this morning to survey the damage. I'm
three pounds heavier. I know I didn't eat enough to gain 3
actual pounds this weekend, but I'm so incredibly bloated
and constipated (TMI, sorry) that I have no doubts where
the extra weight is coming from. I'm not at all upset
about it. 172 still ain't bad! Give it a few days and I'll
be back on track and feeling better, I just know it.

Helena and I had a VERY scary experience last night, but I
don't have time to write about it now. I have to go. But,
I'll tell the story tonight when I get back on my usual
writing schedule. It was so incredibly frightening, I
can't even imagine how parents that really have it happen
survive. That's all I can say for now... Ciao.
