Illness Explosions

The last 24 hours have been pure hell. I knew something
was up yesterday morning. I met Gen at Starbuck's for
coffee and for some reason my Caramel Macchiato just
wasn't sitting right. I couldn't finish it. I had a slice
of banana bread along with it, but it still upset my
stomach. I kind of thought it was because I took my
vitamins on an empty stomach, but I've done that a million
times before and never had a problem (unless I was
pregnant and already queasy). Then, at the gym I started
to feel even more sick to my stomach. By the time I got
home and was getting ready for work it was a little worse,
but by then it was way too late to call in sick, so I
sucked it up and went to work. I didn't even have to tell
anyone I wasn't feeling well. As soon as I walked into the
office Rebecca took one look at me and said "jeez, you
look like crap". Nice, I know. But it was true. I did look
like crap. No amount of hair and make-up can totally hide
illness. By 8pm I couldn't handle the cramping and nausea
anymore and Alicia came in to close for me. I hadn't eaten
anything since the coffee and banana bread, so there
wasn't anything to throw up, but I definitely would have
had I eaten.

By the time I got home all hell had broken loose. Kiki's
tummy was hurting, Keenan had diarrhea and Annie had
thrown up on her bedroom floor. Amy was a godsend, even
though I'd come home early she still stayed until almost
11pm. She got the kids cleaned up (and all of their
illness explosions) and asleep so I wouldn't have to do
it. I've never appreciated her more. She mentioned
something about liking the Beauty Rush lip glosses. I
think I'll get her some tomorrow as a thank you.

Today Annie stayed home from school (it was her short day
anyway) and we all ended up in my bed for most of the day.
There was something very comforting about laying in bed
watching Sesame Street with the tangle of arms and legs,
saltine cracker crumbs and toys. Everyone feels better
now. It must have been a 24 hour bug. Now I'm going to
take a shower (to wash the sickness off me) and change my
bedsheets. Somebody got marshmallow on them and the amount
of cracker crumbs is ridiculous. It's no big deal. I have
to change my sheets after illness anyway. It's a must.
Ciao.
