Cheap Screws and Brutal Michigan Winters

Despite being super-excited about going to the gym today,
I still had trouble getting up and going this morning. I
woke up feeling just as tired as I had when I'd gone to
bed and it took pretty much all I had to get myself and
the little ones up and at em'. I did it though, and I feel
infinitely better for it.

It's going to take me a bit to really get into a routine.
I haven't figured out what will work best for me and the
kids. What time would be better (bright and early or after
lunch). I'm leaning more towards bright and early, because
that would leave more time in the middle of the day to do
other things if I need to. Evenings wouldn't really work,
because I usually work at least two evenings (but possibly
four since that's my availability) per week. I still love
having the option of working out whenever, since I've got
the childcare to be able to do that now.

I discovered a new piece of equipment today called an Arc
Trainer. It's kind of like an elliptical/StairMaster
hybrid on steroids. It's not the easiest machine. So, I
started out slow. I did a 30 minute program and when I
stepped off, I thought for a minute my poor jelly-legs
were going to give out from under me, but they didn't. It
felt so good :) I worked on my abs a bit, too. They've got
a killer circuit training room with all the machines I
used to love and then some. I'm no fool to think I can
just jump right in and do the whole circuit on my first
day back in almost two years, but I tried. A very nice
middle-aged Puerto Rican man kind of took me under his
(very muscular) wing and helped me figure out some of the
machines. I'm not as sore as I thought I'd be, but
tomorrow morning will be a better judge of that.

Gen, Sam and Cyrus came over tonight and we had a lovely
impromptu dinner party :) Thanks to Gen. Sam came to help
me with the RAV. Thanks to cheap screws and brutal
Michigan winters, the screws holding the license plate on
have become hopelessly entrenched into the RAV's tailgate.
Jason tried to get them out while he was home and couldn't
do it. He took it into the dealership, but they wanted $50
to do it. He tried taking it to a few other places and
they wouldn't even touch it. So, I told him to leave it
and I'd deal with it later. Well, later has come (the
Michigan tabs expired in February). Sam wasn't able to get
them out, either. So, it looks like I'm at the mercy of
the Toyota dealership. At least now I know there isn't
another option and it's not a waste of money. If they do
any damage, who better to fix it?

I'm wiped. I would love nothing more than a nice hot
shower and my bed. Hopefully tomorrow I wake up feeling
better than I did this morning. Even if I wake up sore,
it'll at least be for a reason and I'll know I'm making
progress! Ciao.
