My Life Thus Far

How'd I Fall Off The Wagon?

I'm not sure how I managed to run out of time, but I
wasn't able to go gym-hunting like I'd wanted to today. I
got my nails done, did a little shopping, tried on the
Perfect One bra at work... I think it's because I got a
late start this morning. I took my time getting dressed,
getting the kids ready, getting out of the house. Annie
gets home around 4pm and there's no way in hell I'm
leaving her alone. I can't do it tomorrow. I need to clean
(what's new?) and I've got a doctor's appointment. Maybe
Wednesday.

This evening was the usual Monday routine. Girl Scouts and
Grocery shopping. I did a big shopping today and started
collecting things for Snookie's next love box (care
package). He got one today and loved it :) I always put a
lot of thought into them and I'm pleased when he likes
what I get. I'm trying not to neglect him like I did last
deployment. The little two month excursions aren't long
enough to warrant sending packages. By the time they get
it, they're on their way home, but on the long deployments
it's essential. There's so many things they can't get on
the ship and port visits in foreign countries rarely have
the same American luxuries he wants. Unless they have a
Naval base with an Exchange and Commissary (which isn't
likely). Each package has a theme. This package's theme is
movie night. It's got all his favorite snack foods that he
likes to eat when we're just hanging out at home. They get
early releases of the newest movies on the ship and I know
that's something he enjoys doing during his limited free-
time. I don't know if he shares his goodies with his
fellow sailors, but there's enough if he wanted to.

I've already got the next love box planned. It'll be a
port visit theme. As ambassadors for the United States,
sailors are required to dress conservatively. Collared/
button-down shirts, slacks, nice shoes. Clean-cut and
presentable. Their Sunday best, you could say. I know he
only took a few nice outfits with him, so I'm going to
send him another one. Snookums still wears the slacks his
dad bought him for our honeymoon over 5 years ago. They're
too big for him now and he's in need of an update. My goal
is to slowly wean him off the Rocawear and Akademiks by
the time he's 40 :)

Tomorrow is my doctor's appointment. I'm curious to see
what the doctor says. For a minute it looked like I might
not be going to the appointment. Amy pissed me off a
little tonight. She called at 8pm, asking if it would be
possible for me to reschedule my appointment because her
family was out of town at some resort. She just babysat
last night when I went to my meeting and she didn't
mention anything about going out of town today. I guess it
was last-minute. I know it's not her fault, but it bothers
me none-the-less. I don't expect other's to give a crap
about me, but seriously. I expect dependability. The whole
reason I hired a sitter was so I wouldn't be at the mercy
of my friends to help me out when I needed someone to
watch the kids. I pay Amy, therefore I don't feel guilty
about asking her to babysit. And besides, how am I
supposed to reschedule an appointment at 8pm at night?
Instead of even bothering with it, I decided to call in a
favor from Rebecca. She's child-less, but loves kids and
offered to watch them for me whenever she could. Tomorrow
is as good a time as any to take her up on the offer.

Rebecca was going to come stay with us for awhile, but her
landlord was kind enough to extend her lease on a month-by-
month basis until she's ready to go home to Ohio. Which I
think will be within the next month. I'll miss her. She's
a good manager and an asset to our store. I can't say that
about all the new hires that have come through this past
year, but Rebecca is great.

I need to go to bed. I've been slipping when it comes to
getting to bed on time. I was doing so well, how'd I fall
off the wagon? Ciao.
