My Life Thus Far

A Damn Good Dent

I couldn't write last night. I had the worst headache I've
had in a very long time. All I could do was get the kids
to bed and go myself. Light hurt my eyes, sound hurt my
ears. I was nauseated. It sucked. 10 hours of sleep did
the trick and I feel fabulous now :)

Gen and I did coffee yesterday. Even though we've had our
Starbucks tradition for years (same seats in the same
Starbucks) it never gets old and I know it's one of the
few things I'll miss when we move.

After coffee Keenan had his well-baby check-up. Which went
really well. He's 22 pounds, 28 inches long and meeting
all his milestones. He hasn't started crawling yet, but
that's not a requirement at 7 months. Annie never crawled.
She just got up and started walking at 9 months. I don't
think he'll do that, but crawling has a wide range of
normal on the developmental timetable. He's totally over
the infection he contracted a couple weeks ago and the
perforated ear drum has completely healed. He's got a mild
cold at the moment, so I'm hoping it doesn't manifest into
another ear infection. When Kiki was his age if she caught
any kind of bug it inevitable became an ear infection,
which was worse than the illness that caused the
infection. Lets hope Keenan didn't inherit that from
daddy. Even at 32 he still gets the occasional ear
infection.

While Annie was at Girl Scouts Keenan, Kiki and I went to
the Commissary to get a few things to hold us over until I
do my major grocery shopping next week. Kiki's snacks of
course (she's on more strict of a feeding schedule than
Keenan) juice, baby food and some things for me to eat
(since I eat differently than the children do).
Afterwards, we went back for the last few minutes of
Annie's meeting. She's a color guard for her troop and I
can tell she's really proud to be a Girl Scout. I love
that. We've tried so many extracurricular activities in
the past, all of which she wanted to quit within a month,
but she's been a scout since September and she's not
showing any signs of disdain yet. It's cookie time and
since she's not old enough to go door-to-door yet (she has
to be between 11-17 to do that) I felt obligated to do my
part. A few of her teachers bought from her and I bought
10 boxes. Some for them, a box of Trefoils (the shortbread
ones) for me and the rest to send Snookums in his care
packages. He loves the Tagalongs (little peanut butter
patties) and I got him a box of the Dulce De Leche cookies
for something different to try.

I need to get off of here. I work tonight and I'd like to
make a good dent in my mountain of laundry before I go. I
don't think I'll finish it all, but I've got 6 hours to
make a damn good dent. Ciao.
