My Life Thus Far

A Beautiful Thing

This Christmas was the second best Christmas of my life.
Second only to 2003 (two days after Snookums and I got
married). It had nothing to do with gifts (although I did
make out like a bandit). It had everything to do with
family. It was lovely having the people I care about most
around me. The crazy-wild, wonderful family I had a hand
in creating. It was a beautiful thing. I don't know when
fate decided I deserved a break, but I'm glad it did. I'm
extraordinarily fortunate and never do I forget that for a
moment. I've got so much to be thankful for. If ever you
feel like there's nothing good in your life, think again.
Take a moment to appreciate all the good there is around
you. You'll find that sometimes the things you take for
granted are really the things you should feel most
fortunate to have. On Christmas and every day, take solace
in that. This time of year always reminds me of my mother
and the life I used to live. So much has changed in such a
short 5 years.

Dan was supposed to have arrived on Tuesday, but due to
our blizzard-like conditions his flight was cancelled and
instead he flew in yesterday. Around the time he was
supposed to arrive, Snookums decided to go check the mail.
Just as he opened the door to leave, guess who was
standing on our front porch? Dan AND Helena! When Dan
rescheduled his flight he spur of the moment decided to
buy Helena a ticket, too. It was a very nice surprise. We
haven't all been together since our Christmas wedding in
2003. They're staying until Saturday.

I'm so exhausted and I think my stomach is so full I think
it's going to explode! My bed is calling :) Ciao.
