My Life Thus Far

Everything Is Easier

My schedule has been completely thrown off this past
weekend, but it's been fun. It's funny how as you get
older (and subsequently more mature - if you're lucky)
your idea of fun changes. Just last year going out would
have been my idea of fun and while Friday night out with
my friend was fun, yesterday was just as much a good time.
Maybe more and I didn't even leave the house.

Almost as soon as I hit submit on yesterday's entry
someone rang my doorbell. I thought it was one of Annie's
many friends coming to see if she could play, so I threw
open the door and to my amazement, it was Misty! I haven't
seen or spoken to her in the better part of a year. Not
for any reason other than life has gotten in the way.
She's a nice person and I like her, it just seemed like
she was going to be strictly a "clubbing friend". I met
her at a club, that's what we did together and we rarely
saw each other outside the club. Since I don't do that
anymore I figured she'd be relegated to a myspace
acquaintance. Maybe she still will be, I don't know. It
was great catching up with her. She brought her kids and
they all played together. Her daughter, Cierra and Annie
used to be really close, so it was like a little reunion
for them and Misty still hadn't seen Keenan. She couldn't
get over how much he looks like Jason. The resemblance is
pretty uncanny. They stayed for about an hour, then she
had to leave to run errands. The girls want to get
together next weekend for a play-date, so we'll see if
that happens.

Yesterday while I was sitting on the couch nursing Keenan,
I saw a commercial on tv for a concert that's coming to a
casino in the area. Performers who play this casino are
usually the has-beens and old-timers that are past their
performing prime, but one of the performers is a singer
Snookums has had a little crush on for years. Since before
I met him. Her name's Ashanti. We've always had a running
joke about him leaving me for her if he had the chance (he
never could or would, that's what makes it a joke). The
concert just so happens to be on his birthday, Dec. 12th.
So, I took a chance (that we'll be able to go) and ordered
tickets online. $142 for center seats in the 4th row. I
don't know if Ashanti is considered a has-been yet, but
I'm sure he'll be happy just seeing her. We've never been
to a concert together, so even if it's a little suckish,
we'll still have that memory to add to our collection.
Speaking of memories. I got an e-mail from Snookums this
morning and he wrote a really sweet paragraph towards the
end. I won't share the whole e-mail, but that last part
was really special:

"5 days to go Baby and then Daddy will be home. I just
want to thank you for sticking it out with me through all
the trials and tribulations that we have overcome, and I
really really want to thank you for being my wife. You
mean everything to me and I love you so much. I am just
thankful that I have a wife like you who I can trust and
who takes care of everything while I am gone. You are so
special to me and you're one in a million. I love you so
much."

He's an amazing man...

I don't know how I'm going to be able to keep his birthday
present a secret for almost a whole month! It isn't going
to be easy (he doesn't read my diary. He says it's
pointless since I tell him everything anyway, so there's
no danger of him finding out from here). I'll do my best,
but I can't make any promises.

Last night I met my next door neighbor in the most round-
about way. She requested to be my friend on myspace. I
accepted and not even two minutes later there was a knock
on the door. She didn't know it was me when she requested
because my profile is private, but once I accepted and she
saw the picture of Annie I have on my page, she was
like "that's my neighbor"! We stood on my front porch and
talked for a little while until we got too cold. She seems
nice. Both of us are quiet and keep to ourselves. I don't
foresee us having any issues.

First thing this morning, I had a meeting at work. This
meeting was to prepare the new hires for Pink Friday
(otherwise known as Black Friday, the day after
Thanksgiving. It's Pink Friday at Victoria's Secret for
obvious reasons) and to figure out what we're going to
wear. Every year we pick a theme and everybody follows it.
Last year it was pink tops and black slacks. This year it
will be all black with red accents. If you've ever worked
retail you know that the day after Thanksgiving is the
Super Bowl of retail. You have to be on your 'A' game and
this is usually the testing ground for new associates.
They either sink or swim (stay or never show up for a
shift again). It's a big deal at VS. I love it. This will
be my third Pink Friday and I'm looking forward to it.
Bring it on!

That's all for now. I need to go throw in a load of
laundry and get the house picked up. I'm proud of myself.
I've been doing a great job keeping things up. Now that
I'm feeling more like myself, everything is easier. Ciao.
