After Midnight

*****

I got home after midnight last night and I just didn't
feel like writing. So, I didn't. After a fun-filled night
on the town, all I really wanted was to sleep.

Yesterday was a fairly unremarkable day. I had planned on
going shopping (for a new welcome home Snookums outfit,
Annie's badge books and vest for Girl Scouts, some
groceries), but I didn't feel like it when I got up. So, I
spent the day vegging on the couch with Kiki and Keenan.
None of it is immediately pressing. It can wait.

Originally, I was going to go to Rebecca's birthday thing.
She was having some people over to her house, then
everybody was going to McCloud's (a bar) for drinks. By
4pm I still wasn't feeling it. I'm pretty much over the
whole bar scene. I sewed my wild oats last year, it bit me
in the ass and now I'm done with it. So, I called her
cellphone and left her a message letting her now that I
didn't feel like doing the whole bar thing and that I
hoped she wouldn't be upset about it. I didn't get a call
back, but I'll assume she was okay with it. I wasn't the
only one coming and I was honest about it.

I got an IM from a fellow Navy wife friend of mine around
5:30pm saying she was bored and we should do something. I
wasn't against getting out and doing something. I just
didn't want to go clubbing. So, we decided to hook up for
dinner and a movie. That was fun :) It was like a date,
but we're both heterosexual females, so not really.
Snookums did say I could have a girlfriend and while
that's very generous of him (probably because it's one of
his fantasies) I don't think I'll be taking him up on the
offer.

Speaking of fantasies. Somehow T'onna and I got on the
subject of sex during dinner. Both of our husbands are
gone and due to be home this coming week. Since T'onna and
I had almost an hour to kill between dinner and our movie,
we decided to stop by Castles. It's the adult-themed
superstore in Silverdale. I didn't have anything in
particular in mind. I'm not big on toys, but sometimes
it's interesting to look. Some of the stuff there looks
like it would be painful and while a little pain can be
pleasurable, some of that stuff looked down-right
sadistic. Snookums already alluded in one of his e-mails
that gentle will not be a word in his vocabulary when he
gets home. I'm okay with that. I can handle it :)

Soul Men was funny. It wasn't hilarious, but it had funny
moments. It was Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes' last movie,
which made it kind of sad at the same time. I'm not a huge
fan of either of them, but I appreciated their work as
actors and Bernie Mac as a comedian. My main complaint
with the movie was the language. I lost count of how many
times they said 'fuck'. They said it to the point where it
was distracting and completely unnecessary. It could have
been left out in a lot of places and the movie would have
been just as good. Maybe better.

It's 11am on a Saturday morning. I don't have anything
planned for today. I need to clean up the house a little,
but that's it. The kids did a number on the place last
night. I ordered pizza and blew up the air mattress and
Amy had a friend over, so they had a little pizza
party/sleep-over last night. It wasn't too wild though. I
came home a little after midnight and everybody was passed
out already. Amy is a great girl. I love that the kids
like her. Kiki never cries when I leave. Even though Kiki
went to the Child Development Center for almost two years
of her life, she cried every day I left her there. I don't
feel guilty for having a life outside of the children if
they're happy with who I leave them with. Ciao.
