My Life Thus Far
A Mother-In-Law Popularity Contest
I have a free moment (actually, I'm supposed to be putting
laundry away) and out of the blue the urge to write struck
me! I'm in a very good mood today. When I woke up this
morning the girls were already up and dressed and on their
way out the door. Helena took them out to breakfast, then
grocery shopping. So, it was just me and baby boy here. We
laid in bed, had a nice leisurely morning feeding (without
the fear of Kiki destroying something in another room) and
then I got to take a lovely hot shower (also without the
fear of destruction). It was a nice start to my Sunday. I
forget how nice a break away from the kids can feel.
Probably because I so rarely get one. Even when I go to
work, I'm not doing whatever I want to do. I'm working.
It's a different kind of work, no matter how much I may
enjoy it.
Helena is outside cutting the grass right now. I feel
really lazy when she's here, because she does pretty much
everything for me. She's done my laundry, is taking care
of the girls, went grocery shopping, now she's doing my
landscaping and oh, did I mention she gave us a $20,000
car free and clear (they paid cash for it)? The woman is
amazing. If Sue and Helena were in a mother-in-law
popularity contest. Helena is whipping Sue's ass. Of
course they're not and I never tell Sue what Helena does
for us. I value Sue because she gave birth to Snookums.
But, Helena was instrumental in making him the responsible
adult he's become today. Sue had little to do with that.
Helena is more than just Snookums' dad's wife. She's his
second mother. Sue coddled Snookums to a fault. He was
going nowhere fast living with her. It wasn't until he
went to live with his dad and Helena that his life took a
different path and of course I'm glad it did, or I never
would have met him. Isn't it amazing how fate works in
mysterious ways?
I was brave this morning and did something I've been
avoiding since Helena got here and started feeding me
crap. I stepped on the scale. I did it mainly to assess
the damage. Surprisingly, there was no damage to assess.
I've lost a pound! Only one, but losing one is better than
gaining one! Last night I hadn't planned on sneaking in a
work out, but I went ahead and did it anyway. Thankfully
the Gazelle has stopped squeaking and I wasn't worried
about waking Helena. My thighs are so sore. At first I
wasn't sure if the Gazelle was doing anything, but now I
know it is. Exactly where I need help, too. I'm in love
with it :)
I just happened to check the most popular diaries list
today. I sometimes like to read the other diaries when I'm
procrastinating or bored. I couldn't help but notice it's
been updated and I'm on it again :) So, thanks to
everybody who reads my daily dribbles of incoherent
babble :) It's very flattering.
I really need to get off of here. There are things I could
be doing, instead of watching Helena do it all. Ciao!
