My Life Thus Far

Free and Clear

****

Helena is here. She arrived around 11:30am and was a
whirlwind of energy until she went to bed at 10pm. I have
the hardest time keeping up with that woman. She's 61
years old, but you'd never know it by looking at her.
She's pretty amazing. Even if she is my mother-in-law :)

I got my first look at The Rav as everyone calls it. Not
me. I think it's a stupid name for an SUV and I call it
The Toyota. The Rav, The Toyota. It doesn't matter what
it's called. It's a new vehicle and it's ours free and
clear. It's nice. I probably wouldn't have bought it if I
were paying for it, but it accommodates the entire family
and it's dependable. Don't get me wrong, I'm exceedingly
grateful to Dan and Helena for giving it to us. I guess
I'm just getting a little spoiled, because they're always
giving us stuff. I'm starting to be a little less
awestruck by their money. After all, it's just money. I'm
sure if I had it, I'd bestow lovely gifts on my family,
too.

Along with a new vehicle, Helena came bearing cake. At her
last visit, Helena gave me a big piece of chocolate fudge
cake at 8pm every night, after the girls went to bed.
Well, I'm not pregnant anymore, but Helena is still trying
to carry on that tradition. I ate it because I didn't want
to be rude, but for the first time (in a very long time) I
didn't really want it. In fact, I just burned 405 calories
on the Gazelle to make up for eating it. I'm sure I burned
even more than that (the counter is only an approximation
and I'm heavier than the 120 pound woman they calibrated
it for). I'm very motivated to live my most healthiest
life. To get in the best shape I can and if I don't want
to eat chocolate fudge cake, I'll take that as a good
thing. I huge step in the right direction. How do I tell
her that, though. She already blatantly disregards my
vegetarianism. She won't be here long. I'll be able to
stick it out.

I'm slightly disappointed by my Gazelle. It's squeaky and
I wish I could make it a little more challenging. But, I
suppose it's better than nothing. The squeakiness isn't
terrible, but I was trying to be quiet because I don't
want Helena to know I'm trying to work off her cake. Once
she's gone, the squeak won't be an issue, but I'm still
bummed that it makes noise. I shouldn't be surprised. All
the negative remarks at Target.com were about the
squeaking. I was trying to be optimistic that I would get
a unit that didn't have that problem. Yeah, right.

I need to go to bed. Helena is taking us to visit a friend
of her's in Federal Way. I'm slightly concerned because my
mother lives in Federal Way and it would be my luck that
I'd run into her. But the odds of that happening are slim.
So, I'll just try to enjoy the day. Ciao.
