My Life Thus Far

Perfect Is Hard To Come By

When I look around the house I see a million and a half
things I need to do, but I'm at a loss as to where I
should start. It's not that I like cleaning. I don't
really. I just strongly dislike disorder, clutter, dust
and overall disarray. I like perfect and perfect is hard
to come by. It doesn't help that there are three little
people in my life that produce hurricane-sized messes when
given half a chance. So, for the time being I'm going to
sit back, assess the situation and decide what I want to
tackle first.

Snookums pulled into port in San Diego today. I just got
off the phone with him. He actually sounded pretty happy.
He went TAD (temporary assigned duty) to another division
where he's supervising something or another. I don't know
much about the military and I'm not really interested in
figuring it all out. I'm just happy he's happy. He needed
a break from the drama that's going down in the Navigation
department. It never ceases to amaze me how much some of
the people that work under him act like children. I guess
when you're only 19 or 20, you might seem childish to a 32
year old, but he tells me stories about some of the things
the E3's and E4's get into and it's pretty funny.
Nonetheless, I can see how it would get frustrating when
you're trying to take care of business and people are
coming to work hungover, high or pregnant by an
upperclassman.

I just talked with my dad, too. I hadn't called him in
awhile, so I did that. He seems to be doing well. He's got
a new girlfriend (which is always a good thing). I wish we
lived closer to each other. I have such happy memories
from my visit down there a couple Summers ago. It would be
great if Snookums could get stationed in San Diego. Then
for once I'd be somewhere where I had some family!

Speaking of Summer, it's definitely over here in
Washington. The days are cooler, shorter and a little
drearier now. It's not too bad of a day today. There's a
good amount of clouds, but no rain. Annie was still able
to get out and play. Just a few minutes ago I was out on
the balcony watering my tomatoes and a few leaves fell off
the tree in the back yard. The balcony is level with the
crown of the tree and as I looked at the leaves I could
see the beginnings of that rusty red Autumn coloring
beginning on the edges of the leaves. I love that about
the fall. All the vibrant colors in the leaves, the cooler
temperatures (but not yet cold) and of course the change
in wardrobe. I love an excuse for shopping :)

Alright. After procrastinating for a little bit, I've
devised my plan of attack on the house. Now let me get to
it. Ciao until later.
