Vanity Is Evil

*****

I just got home from work about 45 minutes ago. I thought
Keenan would be ready to eat, but it appears that he's not
ready yet, so I'm going to try and squeeze tonight's entry
in before he wakes up.

I had a trying day. Not because anything bad happened.
Quite the opposite, in fact. Snookums came home from work
early and kind of put a cramp in my plans. I'd intended to
get some housework done (sweep, mop, vacuum, laundry)
before he got home. But, instead he came home just as I
was getting started and promptly sent my ass to bed. I
hate that he's so overprotective at times. Well, I don't
HATE it (it's nice to be cared about), but it can be
slightly annoying. I have a household to run, children to
take care of, a job and a LIFE. I don't want to spend it
sitting in bed, or propped up on the couch just because of
a temperamental leg injury. Isn't it bad enough I have to
wear the tightest Ace bandage on Earth?

Snookums did allow me to get out of bed for work (like he
had any choice). We got into it a little about my choice
of shoes (heels and knee injuries don't mesh well, but my
toes are painted pretty and they make my legs look longer.
Vanity is evil, I know). It was all in fun. He knows he
can't stop me from doing what I want :) The only pair of
flats I have are the ballerina kind and the elastic digs
into the back of my heel. It's not comfortable. I'm used
to heels, so I really do find them to be more comfortable
than flats most of the time.

Work was great. I closed with Rebecca and a new girl
(can't remember her name). Tonight was her first night.
Rebecca focused on getting her trained. I tended to
customers and the cash wrap. Not too hard, since it wasn't
that busy. New girl isn't ready to learn cash wrap
procedures or the bra wardrobing center yet. She mainly
just learned to merchandise panty tables and nest the bra
drawers. Honestly though, the way some customers were
shopping tonight, that was immensely important work. A
panty table could go from perfect to trashed in about 1.5
seconds!

We got some gratises tonight! Yeah! Who doesn't like free
stuff? We got our choice of one of the new bras coming out
next month (the Angels Ipex demi or full coverage. You
heard it here first) and a bottle of limited edition
Coconut Sugar body lotion. I chose the full coverage bra
(of course), which fits okay if I'm not full of milk. I'm
a little iffy on the lotion. It reminds me of a slightly
sweet tanning lotion. I'll use it when I want to think of
Summer. Or I'll give it to Annie like I do with all the
stuff I don't like that much.

I like Rebecca. She gives me lovely compliments. Tonight
she complimented me on how smooth and pore-free my skin
is. She said it looks like porcelain (which is weird,
because I'm not white, but I guess porcelain can come in
colors) and she asked me what I use to keep it that way.
Then she commented on how clean my purse is (we have to
get it looked through before we can leave the store).
While my self-confidence levels are at an all-time high
right now, I do still have moments of insecurity (like
anyone), so it's great hearing nice things like that. I'm
going to make a conscious effort to say something nice
about someone tomorrow. One good turn deserves another.

I did a little power-shopping during my break. I'm losing
weight fairly rapidly now that Keenan is eating so much
and I'm having band-slippage issues with the nursing bras
I bought after he was born. So, I stopped in at Motherhood
and picked up a couple in a smaller size. They fit like a
dream (even though they aren't VS) and I love the
smoothness of the fabric. I got a couple ingenious nursing
tops while I was there, too. I love a highly functional
article of clothing :)

Well, that's it. My day in a nutshell. Keenan let me
finish. He's still sleeping peacefully, but I'm going to
have to disturb him. Mommy's not very comfortable at the
moment! Ciao.
