A Lovely Time Of Year

*****

I'm cold. I think Summer is saying goodbye in Washington
state. 64 degrees feels chilly to me and the forcast isn't
calling for anything much higher than that any time soon.
That's okay, though. I love Autumn. I enjoy the warmth of
Summer, but I think the transition into Fall is a lovely
time of year.

I had such a great day. I'm in an especially good mood
because I got to have coffee with Gen! We haven't had
coffee together since Keenan was 5 days old (he's 10 weeks
old now). So, we were long overdue. I hate how life gets
in the way sometimes. I thought about her all the time,
but I'd end up getting pulled in a different direction and
before I knew it days had turned into weeks. We won't let
it happen again, I hope.

After coffee, the kids and I stopped by Annie's school to
get her class assignment and her supply list. She's in Mr.
Tebo's class. She was slightly disappointed because she
wanted a different teacher, so I'm hoping she'll have some
old friends from last year in her class to make the
transition easier. There wasn't a school supply list,
which was a lovely surprise! The teachers purchased all
the supplies wholesale and are charging us parents $15 to
cover the cost. I've never spent $15 on supplies. Maybe on
notebook paper, but not total. So, I'm stoked about that.
Now the only shopping we'll have to do is the fun stuff.
Clothes, shoes and this year's backpack.

While I was thinking about school, I called Tricare to set
up Annie's appointment for meds. She's going into 4th
grade this year and the curriculum will be getting harder.
I know she's smart enough to handle it, but her low level
of concentration will sabotage her if she doesn't get
help. The soonest they can get her in is September 16th,
but that's better than nothing.

Since I was making Annie's appointment, I made one for
myself to get my knee looked at again. It just isn't
feeling great and my ankle is swollen all the time. I got
exceedingly lucky, they had a cancellation this afternoon.
So, I got to see my doctor for the first time since I had
that cyst (in my girly parts) last year. Basically, my
doctor agreed with what the ER doctor diagnosed (the torn
calf muscle). The swelling in my ankle is gravity pulling
the swelling from my knee down. A sign that I'm spending
too much time on my feet. So, I got chastised for not
taking it easy and got half my leg cocooned in a
compression wrap (a gigantic, industrial-strength Ace
bandage that feels like it's cutting off my circulation).
It could take up to a month for the tendon to heal. Lame.

While I was there (and since I was her last patient of the
day). I got a chance to discussed my bleeding with her.
She said it's normal (which I assumed. That's why I
haven't made an appointment for it) and that more than
likely it's due to the birth control pill I'm taking. I've
always been sensitive to hormones, so I'm not too
surprised. She told me to stop taking them and I should be
fine. Yeah, that's not going to happen. Snookums isn't
careful enough not to get me pregnant and if I keep taking
them, I keep bleeding and I have an excuse not to have
sex :) I'm not in the mood right now. Give me a few more
weeks and then it's on!

Baby boy is calling me. Ciao for now.
