My Life Thus Far

I Regret Not A Damn Thing

****

Well, today was different. Not in a bad way. Not at all.
It was out of the ordinary and actually pretty
entertaining. Thankfully, drama-free. I can't tell you how
many times I re-lived the conversation I had with the
neighbor yesterday (what I should have said, what I could
have said differently), but other than that, I left the
drama behind. Annie went outside, same as always. Being
accused of being a bad mother, when my entire life is
encompassed by my children didn't make me too happy. So, I
regret not a damn thing I said to her and the only regret
I have is that I didn't say a few other things. No
worries, though. There was a moving truck in front of
their house today. I won't have to put up with her again.

When Snookums got home from work, we did something we've
never done together before... We played tennis together. I
played tennis a lot in high school, but haven't played it
since. At first Snookums was pretty resistant to the idea.
But I convinced him that it was good exercise and he'd
have fun if he tried it. I picked up a couple rackets and
a can of tennis balls from Target yesterday. We were going
to play last night, but with all that happened we didn't
get a chance. Snookums had me running my big butt all over
the place! Needless to say, we've got to work on his serve
and back-hand. Annie tried her hand at it, too. I think
with a little practice she'll be my tennis partner when
Snookums is out to sea.

Earlier in the day I got another call about the
babysitting flier. This time it was a woman named
Charlotte. She sounded really nice over the phone and even
though she's got a 2 year old son I was still willing to
give her a chance because she didn't mind coming here to
watch the kids. Her son doesn't have a bedtime (sucky for
her), so it doesn't matter if I get home late. I set up a
meeting time with her (7pm) so Snookums and I could talk
with her and see if the girls took to her. Sure enough,
they did. Kiki is very shy around people she doesn't know,
but she plopped down on the couch next to her and was
calling her 'friend' by the end of the meeting. I still
have another "interview" with a girl named Amy tomorrow,
but I really like Charlotte. It certainly helps that she's
a grown-up and I don't have to worry about getting her
home. One of the downsides of employing a teenager under
16 (or one without a car). I might keep both of them, just
in case one can't watch the kids, I'll have a back-up
sitter.

Keenan seems to be a little fussy right now. We call the
evening hours between 7pm-10pm fussy-time. If Keenan's
going to be fussy, that's usually when he does his
fussing. Let me go sit on the couch and nurse for the next
3 hours. Ciao.
