My Positive Attitude

****

The downside of getting up early is that boring days are
even longer than if you'd just slept in for a few extra
hours. I did have a good day. My positive attitude made
all the difference, I'm sure.

I had to struggle to keep busy today. I dusted, did
laundry, cleaned my bedroom and bathroom, picked up the
never-ending pile of toys that always regenerates itself
in the middle of the living room floor. Then the usual
things I do every day (take care of the children, prepare
Kiki's 5 million meals and snacks, feed Keenan, etc). It
was one of those very mundane, monotonous, dragging kind
of days.

All day I watched the sky, waiting for the clouds to part
and the showers to stop. The weather was crazy. If it was
sunny outside the front door, it was raining out back. Or
it was sunny and raining at the same time. It didn't start
to dry up for any length of time until it was too late for
me to get out for that walk I wanted to take. I had to
make dinner and get the girls ready for bed. I was
disappointed, but I know there are more nice days still to
come.

I was brave this morning and got on the scale. The scale
hasn't been my friend lately, but it gave me good news
today. I've lost 4 pounds this week and I swear I haven't
been trying. Honestly. I haven't counted a single calorie,
haven't deprived myself of anything (I really wanted) or
even really given it much thought. It has to be water
weight, I know that. It still feels good to see the scale
go down though, that's for sure!

I'm exhausted. I'd planned on taking a nap when Kiki took
a nap, but she decided she didn't need one today. So, I'm
off to bed. Even though Snookums isn't here to make me.
Ciao.
