The Audacity Of That Woman

****

Sue left this morning. Not before hitting me up for the $3
needed to cross Tacoma Narrows (it's a toll bridge). I
can't believe the audacity of that woman sometimes. It's
like she thinks we're made of money! At least she doesn't
ask us to buy her booze when she comes to visit anymore.
Jason told her to buy it herself, we don't drink. I will
never mooch off my children. Ever. Sue is always
complaining about how broke she is. I guess she should
have done things differently in her life.

Snookums came home from work about an hour after his
mother left. After a not-so-great night of sleep because
Keenan's swing was out of commission, we decided to figure
out how to get the problem solved. Thankfully, Target has
a great return policy. Even though I bought the swing
online, they still let us return it to the store. I
printed out a receipt and Snookums took it back.

The real kicker came when he got home. We spent the better
part of half an hour putting the new swing together. Once
it was assembled, we put in the batteries (the same ones
that were in the old swing. They were fresh from the pack
just 3 days ago) and all seemed fine...for about 5
minutes. Then, the new swing started acting up just like
the old one did! So, I got 3 new D batteries out of the
same pack and put them in the swing. Now it's working
perfectly. Son of a bitch. We went through all that and it
wasn't even the swing! I didn't even think to try
different batteries. I'd just put new ones in! I would be
the one to get the value pack with a defective battery in
it.

We exchanged Keenan's old swing for the same model, but
since May when I bought it they've tweaked it a little and
now there are subtle differences. The frame is more
compact, the seat is more reclined and slightly bigger,
the Pooh mobile has different-looking bears. It's all
subtle little things, but cumulatively they add up to a
difference I was able to spot instantly. Snookums can't
see a difference. Not surprising. The shitty part is I
like the older version better. Oh well. It swings and
Keenan is happy. I'm not going to obsess over it.

Snookums and I have been scrutinizing baby pictures of
Kiki compared to her baby brother and we've decided they
look nothing alike. Kiki was darker (believe it or not)
with a pinker complexion and dark hair. Keenan is dayglo
fair, very pale with sandy hair. Both had blue eyes at
this age, but since Annie and Kiki have hazel eyes, I'd
bet money Keenan will too. Our verdict is decided. Kiki is
Jason's mini-me, with a touch of my coloring. A female
copy of her daddy, though. Keenan resembles Jason closely.
Especially in coloring, but has a few of my features
thrown in. It doesn't really matter, but it was fun
looking back at Kiki's baby pictures :) Even though I know
99.9% for sure that Keenan is Jason's baby, because of
what I did I have to give myself grief and wonder about
it. Ron was so not worth what I've been dealing with
lately.

Well, that's all for today. Snookums is hassling me. He
wants to get in the shower. Ciao for now.
