My Life Thus Far
Proprietary Blend
****
I should be taking a shower and going to bed, but here I
am trying to write. You have to admire my dedication.
Sue's presence makes it very hard to keep my journal up to
date. Impossible to check e-mails and forget about
myspace. I can't do anything on the computer during the
day because Sue thinks our couches are too soft, so she
sits at the computer all day. She doesn't know how to use
it, she just sits in the chair and puts her drink on the
desk. She doesn't move for hours. So, whenever she gets up
to go to the bathroom or whatever, I have to sneak on for
a minute to check my mail or something. I hate being put
out in my own home. As much as I complain about Sue, she
is a nice lady at heart. Even if she says and does really
dumb things at times. Like asking me how my weight loss is
coming, then asking if I want hamburgers or pizza for
dinner 10 minutes later. No, stupid. Why would I have
watched what I ate all day only to ruin it at dinner with
McDonald's? Really.
I didn't leave too much out of my last entry, even though
the house was loud and I couldn't concentrate very well.
Think of this entry as an addendum to my last one, because
nothing new has happened. I just wanted to make sure I
remember everything I'd wanted to share. I'm tempted to
carry a little notebook around with me so I can jot down
things when they come to mind during the day. I'd like my
entries to be more about what I'm thinking and feeling,
then just what's happening day to day. That can get pretty
mundane really fast. I'm just a mom, nothing too
interesting happens to me.
Kiki made a full recovery from the anesthesia this
afternoon. When I'd written earlier she was still a little
loopy and falling down once in awhile. She realized right
away that her tongue had been altered and she was happy
about it. Which made me feel better about having it done.
Kiki stuck her tongue out for the first time in her life.
All the way out, like anyone without a tongue tie would.
I'm happy for her... Now that it's over.
Thanks to my experience as a mother of children with
chronic diaper rash, I've finally found something that
works to get rid of it and I made it myself. Well, kind
of. Last week I bought a tube of Safeway's diaper rash
cream. It was on sale for way less than the Desitin, it
was 40% zinc oxide and it smelled nice. It seemed like it
was the same, until I got it home and tried to use it. The
consistency was way too thin. You couldn't get any on your
finger it was so runny. It would just slip off, so I
decided to blend it with a couple other ingredients to
make my own proprietary blend of diaper rash ointment. I
squeezed the tube of zinc ointment into a little plastic
storage container, added equal parts A&D ointment and pure
cornstarch (Snookums swears by it for sweaty nuts)into the
until it was a viscous paste. I applied this stiff paste
to Keenan's little booty and by morning the red rawness
was totally gone and it hasn't come back since, even
though he's still pooing just as much. Snookums says I
should sell it, but it's no different then all the other
ointments in the market place. I guess it's not even a
proprietary blend anymore. I just told the world what's in
it :) That's okay. If it helps to heal another baby's
butt, cool. I think the only difference between mine and
the stuff I always buy is that I made mine as thick as
wallpaper paste, so it creates a physical barrier between
wetness and Keenan's skin. You practically need a chisel
to get it off, which is perfect in our situation.
Well, enough rambling on about my baby's butt. I'm
exhausted. After getting up at the crack of dawn to get
Kiki to the hospital, I really need to go to sleep. I hope
Keenan lets me sleep. He's been an angel all this week, so
I hope that continues. Ciao.
