Happy 232nd Birthday America!

****

Sometimes I'm not proud of what my country does or how
some Americans act, but on Independence Day you kind of
can't help being a little proud to be an American (even if
I wasn't born here and can never be president and have
little to no loyalties to anyone or anything outside of my
family). Happy 232nd Birthday America!

I was a little bummed that we didn't go anywhere to
celebrate the 4th of July, but it turns out we really
didn't have to. It's all around us. Fireworks are
prohibited in Jackson Park (according to the handbook),
but their being fired off all around us. Suspiciously
enough, base police are nowhere to be found. Haven't seen
them all day. Across the water, people are shooting off
some pretty impressive shows from their private beaches
(just one of the many benefits of living waterfront, we
can see their displays without any obstructions). We would
have gone to see a professional show (probably the 4th of
Jul-Ivar's in Seattle), but Keenan is just too small. We
can't shut a door without him jumping a mile. Maybe next
year.

I'm holding out hope that Keenan will have a better night
than he did last night. He's been really quiet today. Just
eating and sleeping. Snookums took care of the girls, so I
was able to get some much-needed rest. I feel pretty good
right now.

Unfortunately, since I didn't do a damn thing today, I
have nothing to write about, so I think I'll go take a
shower while my son is sleeping peacefully. He still needs
to eat one more time before he'll go to bed for the night.
Ciao until tomorrow.
