My Life Thus Far

Continuously Amazed

*****

I have only one complaint when it comes to Keenan's
disposition. I wish he liked a pacifier. Any pacifier.
Occasionally, he wants something in his mouth and at this
point, I'm it. Either a nipple or a finger, but he doesn't
like any type of pacifier. At least, none that I have
around the house. Kiki liked Playtex orthodontic pacifiers
or NUK's. Annie like Soothies. Keenan likes me. Oh well.
If that's my only complaint, I should consider myself very
lucky.

Last night Keenan wanted to nurse every hour or so and
when he wasn't nursing, he wanted to be held. So, it was a
little challenging there for a minute. By 4am he settled
down and slept until 8am, ate then went back to sleep, so
ironically enough I'm getting exactly the same amount of
sleep I was when I was pregnant! His schedule is identical
to what I used to endure when I was hugely pregnant and
uncomfortable. I always knew there was a good reason for
the premature sleep-deprivation. Right now both Keenan and
Kiki are taking a nap. So, I've got some time to myself
(hence why I'm writing right now). I'm going to straighten
the house up a little, get some laundry done, then when
Kiki gets up I'll take them to the park. Keenan in his
sling, of course. I'd like to stay ensconced in the house,
but it isn't fair to Kiki, especially on a day that isn't
raining. We can't take those days for granted in
Washington.

My engorgement is almost completely gone. The milk ducts
near my arm pits are still a little full, but the pain is
gone. I think my body is figuring things out and much
faster than it did pregnancies past. No cracked or
bleeding nipples, no mastitis or plugged ducts. I'm
continuously amazed at how well everything is going. I'm
stoked!

I'd better go make good use of my alone time. The house
isn't looking bad at all, but I have to stay on top of it
to keep it that way. Ciao.
