Bloody Show

****

FINALLY a sign that this child plans on being born sooner
rather than later! Helena and I took the girls to see Kung
Fu Panda earlier this afternoon (which, by the way was
pretty good. Better for older children than younger. Kiki
got scared a few times). Towards the end of the movie I
started feeling uncomfortable. Crampy like my period was
about to start. Nothing more than I've been experiencing,
but more persistent. Once the movie was over, I went to
the bathroom to pee and guess what I saw!? Bloody show. If
you don't know what that is, let me share :) It's blood
tinged mucus that some woman get when their cervix starts
to dilate. Blood vessels in and around the cervix start to
break and tinge the mucus plug or vaginal discharge pink
or brownish. It's a good sign. A sooner rather than later
sign. It could be hours or days before you go into labor,
but it's still a sign that SOMETHING is happening. Better
than the endless days of nothing I've been having.

Kiki had to throw me one more curve ball before the baby
comes. First it was the computer acting up, today it was
my cell phone. What's next? The car breaking down (knock
on wood)? At the movie, Kiki accidentally dropped her
Sprite right into my purse. I thought it hadn't spilled
too much, because the inside pocket was relatively dry,
but when I got home, I reached into my purse to grab my
phone out and I stuck my hand in a Sprite puddle. My phone
started doing some crazy things. After seeing the bloody
show, I was all geared up for labor to start at any moment
(I still am, 8 hours later) and I can't go into labor with
no phone! No way of contacting anyone. I couldn't even
call Labor and Delivery. I could have used Helena's phone,
but all my numbers are in my phone. So, I jumped in the
car and headed straight for the mall.

Never has T-mobile been so helpful. I told the clerk I was
in labor (because I figured that would get me taken care
of faster, it worked too). Which she promptly freaked out
about and just GAVE me a new phone. The good news is, my
Razr isn't permanently damaged, they think. The moisture
indicator isn't red, so there's a chance in a few days
I'll be able to pop my SIM card back into it and it'll
work okay. In the mean time I've got a cheap little Nokia
to tide me over. It's not such a bad phone. They extended
our contract to give it to me, but I could return it
within 2 weeks and have that changed. I might keep it just
for a phone to have around the house for emergencies. I'd
have to get another line, but that's pretty cheap to do on
our existing family plan. $10 a month.

Snookums surprised me today and called! I missed his first
call because I was in the movie, which made me all the
more determined to get my phone issue resolved. He called
back later, after the crisis had been averted and we got
to talk for a good half hour. It was nice to hear his
voice, between the roar of jets taking off. Damn, that
ship is loud, even at 9pm. He's very excited about my
bloody show (lets see how many times I can incorporate
that into my entry :) and is hoping tomorrow is the day.
I'm hoping so, too. Helena can't stay forever and I'd just
feel better if Keenan were here, safe at home, before she
leaves. I know I can depend on her and it isn't a burden
or an inconvenience. She's really shown me that she cares
about what I want. This isn't about her. I guess I learned
a little more about her this trip than I previously knew
about her. This is the most time we've ever spent
together. Our previous time together was only 5 days and
the husbands were around. We've had a lot of one-on-one,
female bonding time :)

I'm hungry. I think I'll make myself some scrambled eggs
(because I inexplicably have a hankering for scrambled
eggs) then I'll take a nice bath or shower and go to bed.
I hope I wake up in pain :) That's not a masochistic thing
to say in my situation. It's a fact! Ciao.
