My Life Thus Far
A Kitty Brazilian and Pedicure Mojo
****
Why am I still pregnant? Shouldn't this be coming to an
end soon? Haven't I suffered enough? Apparently not. I
suppose the one good thing about pregnancy is it always
comes to an end...Eventually. I haven't reached the point
of complete and total desperation, I would just like to
see my son already and since it's technically June now
(it's after midnight), I think it's safe to go into labor.
I wanted him to have a June birthday so each of my
children will have their own birth month (April, May and
June). I've accomplished that goal. Now he needs to exit
my body.
It was nice this morning waking up to the girls badgering
Helena for food, instead of me. No knocking on my door, no
bringing me boxes and jars to open. No asking me for
pancakes. It was lovely. I'll never understand how two
little girls can always be so hungry. When I came out of
my bedroom, Kiki had drank about four sippy cups of orange
juice and Annie had tried to con Helena into a cup of
coffee (which she wouldn't like, but was too busy trying
to manipulate somebody to realize). So, apparently it's
not just Selena. My children will try to pull one over on
anyone other than me or Jason. I think that's normal of
all children, though.
This morning Helena got a prime example of some of the
behaviors we have to put up with from Zoe. Helena and I
were sitting in the living room having coffee and talking
when Zoe came into the room. She promptly set her ass down
on the carpet, dug in her front claws and left a 3 foot
long streak of shit across the carpet. Helena has 6 cats
and has never seen a cat do that before. She's got
Persians who have long hair that get shit trapped in their
fur, but they don't rub it into the carpet. Zoe has even
gone so far as to wipe her ass on the wall! So, Helena
called every groomer in Kitsap county until she found one
that would groom a cat (which isn't easy to come by around
here). Helena gets her Persians a sani-cut, which is
basically a Kitty Brazilian. All the hair sheared off the
rear end, back of the hind legs and underside of the tail.
Finally, a place called Happy Tails Grooming agreed to
take Zoe in today and do this sani-cut. I couldn't help
but feel a sick sense of satisfaction as I was cramming
Zoe into her kennel. Knowing what she was in for.
Mwahahahaha (that's my evil laugh).
After we dropped Zoe off, we met up with Gen at the mall
so we could get pedicures. It's kind of my pre-labor
tradition (which ends now, because I'm not having anymore
babies). I had a pedicure on Friday and Kiki was born on a
Monday, so I'm hoping the "Pedicure Mojo" (as Snookie put
it) will work and I'll have Keenan soon. He's due some
time between Monday and Thursday. I hope he gets the hint
and vacates the premises. Anyhow, it felt so good to be
scrubbed and rubbed, dipped in hot wax and polished. I
picked out a deep purple polish with red sparkle in it.
It's so dark it looks almost black, but I still like it. I
wish I'd gotten a pedicure done a few more times since my
feet have gotten so sore and swollen. It's hard to find
time for things like that when I spend 24/7 with Kiki. I
don't think she'd sit still in a stroller long enough for
mommy to get her feet done.
Helena bought us lunch in the food court (Sbarro's chicken
Vesuvio over spaghetti with a cucumber tomato salad. My
old favorite lunch when I was still working). We went
shopping for groceries at the Commissary (which Helena
paid for, because she's nice like that and pays for pretty
much everything when she's here), then we came home to
rest, take naps and wait for Zoe to be finished. Kiki took
a nice long nap, I took a short one. I guess Annie and
Helena laid on Helena's air mattress downstairs and read.
It was a nice rest, since the girls woke up a good hour
and a half earlier than they usually do, which means I did
too because they started running around and making noise.
We went to pick Zoe up around 4:30pm. I couldn't get a
good view of her when she came out because she had her
backside away from me in the kennel. But when we got home.
Holy crap! I couldn't believe the extent to which her ass
had been shaven! She's completely bare! I can see her
girly bits, which is way more than I ever wanted to know
about her. I think next time she goes in to get a trim I
won't have them cut so drastically. It's really only the
spot directly under her tail, around her anus and a little
down the back of her legs that has issues. She's got no
fur from her legs to the base of her tail. They cut the
fur from around the tail, so now it looks like a feather
duster. I'll let her have the fur on top of her tail and
just keep the underside shaved. That way she'll at least
look normal and not like a cat that got her ass stuck in
an electrical outlet. She's not even walking right. That
has got to feel strange, having a bare ass :)
Satisfaction. I'm still feeling it...
Tonight after Helena and the girls retired downstairs (a
little before 9pm) I decided I wanted to take a walk. Some
believe walking helps induce labor. Apparently it doesn't,
because 3 hours later I'm still not in labor. I ended up
doing 4 laps around my block. I figured if I did trigger
labor I would never be more than 1/2 a block from home. I
took my cellphone just in case, too. It took me about 30
minutes to do my laps and while I did feel contractions
and the pressure of Keenan's head on my cervix, no labor.
I would have walked longer, but it started getting dark.
I did notice one thing that pleased me. My pelvis is so
much stronger than it was a few weeks ago. The constant
aching in my symphysis feels better. I don't know why that
would be. You'd think the baby's head engaging would cause
more discomfort, but I think it's having some sort of
aligning effect. His head is keeping my pelvis plumb (like
in carpentry, not plumbing). I'm confident I'll do really
well this delivery. I feel strong :)
Okay. I'm getting sleepy. It's not 2am when I usually
retire, but with the girls getting up at the crack of
dawn, I should try to get to bed a couple minutes earlier,
so I can make up for lost sleep. Ciao until tomorrow.
Unless I go into labor :) Wish me luck....
