My Life Thus Far
Lean Cuisines And Lunchables
****
I'm pooped. Having the weight of both children, the
household maintenance, finances and an impending birth on
my shoulders takes a lot out of a person. The upside to
being on my own is that the days go by very quickly. I
don't have a whole lot of time to miss Snookums
hopelessly, although I am taking the appropriate amount of
mourning time on my myspace :) Sad mood. Sad song. I do
really miss him, but I'm honestly too busy at the moment
to dwell on it. Last night I slept so good (for being over
8 months pregnant) it was ridiculous. I laid my head on
the pillow, closed my eyes, opened them and it was 8am.
Man, I had to pee really bad, though! I missed two or
three midnight bathroom breaks and Junior was not happy
about that.
My ultrasound went well this morning. The technician never
divulges much, but at this point I've had so many
ultrasounds that I'm fairly sure if the baby had two heads
or a tail, they would have let me know by now. It occurred
to me this morning that I've had more ultrasounds this
pregnancy than I had with Annie and Kiki combined. I had
two with Annie and four with Kiki. I've had seven this
pregnancy so far. I know I'll have at least two more and
that's if everything goes as planned at next week's
antepartum testing. Hopefully it isn't more than that. I'm
thinking the total might end up being around ten.
Junior is in a PERFECT left occiput anterior (LOA)
position. His head is down with his back to my left side,
facing towards my spine. The optimum birthing position.
I'm so proud of him. He cooperated :) He's right at 6
pounds, so he's on target to weigh about 9 pounds if he
goes to 40 weeks (which is hard to judge, since this is my
3rd baby). They won't convince me to have a c-section just
because he might be big. They tried that with Kiki. I
didn't go for it then, so I certainly won't go for it now.
I'm thinking everything is going to be fine on the baby
front :)
I went grocery shopping this afternoon. It was a whole
different trip from the ones I usually make when Snookums
is home. My cart was mainly comprised of Lean Cuisines and
Lunchables. I don't cook much when Snookums isn't here.
The girls and I don't eat enough to warrant large meals. I
can't buy packs of meat small enough for one meal and I
don't ever get back to leftovers. They always end up going
bad. So, I like the small portions of the prepackaged
meals. I augment them with fresh fruits and vegetables,
but the protein and carbohydrates are taken care of for
me. It's a cop out, I know. There's so many healthy
options now, why not make my life easier? Low fat and
lower sodium, extra veggies, fruit inspired dishes. It
works for us. Tonight the girls had smoked sausages in a
warm bun (45 seconds in the microwave) with some broccoli.
Pineapple chunks and chocolate milk. I had chicken
carbonara and 1/4 of a small watermelon. It sure beats a
McDonald's salad and it's more cost-effective, too.
I always find myself in interesting situations when
Snookums is gone. More so when he's gone than when he's
home. Why that is I don't know. Anyhow, yesterday this
young guy came to my door. He offered to shampoo one room
of my house for free just to see if I like the service and
if I did, would be willing to tell my friends about them.
I said "okay". It was like a gift from above. So, I made
an appointment to have him come back today. I'd told
Snookums that I wanted to have the living room steam
cleaned because of Zoe's little butt-dragging episode a
couple months ago. We spot cleaned it, but I wanted it
deeply cleaned before the baby comes. So, I saw this as a
something for nothing opportunity. It didn't work out
exactly that way, though. Turns out the guy was a Kirby
vacuum sales person. Technically there's no soliciting
allowed on government property, but there's no gate
stopping them from coming around. I let him do his demo
and I was really into it. I loved the results. I loved the
new Kirby (my mom had one of the old 500 pound ones back
in the 80's). The only thing is, it's got a hefty price
tag. $1,600 total. It's worth it if you look at the long
term benefits. No filters to buy, no need for shampoo
services, no need to buy another vacuum again. It's worth
it, but I hadn't planned on investing in one today. So, I
had to stick to my guns and I didn't get it. My carpet is
lovely, the kitchen was swept, the area rugs and he even
defurred my couches. I couldn't be happier.
I need to go to bed now. I've got a busy day planned for
tomorrow. I've got laundry, housecleaning, yard work and I
need to wrap baby shower gifts. Sunday is my group baby
shower, which I'm kind of looking forward to. I need to
make Saturday go by fast, so Sunday will come! Ciao.
