My Life Thus Far

A House On Stilts

****

Sleep is so hard to come by right now. It frustrates me to
no end. Last night, Snookums ran me a nice bath because my
back was hurting me. I laid back and succumbed to the
warmth of the water and enjoyed the sensation of my
muscles relaxing. I guess at some point I nodded off,
because I remember Snookums taking my book from me and
draining the water. He helped me into my pajamas and put
me to bed. I fell right to sleep, a little after 11pm, but
by 3am, I was wide awake. So frustrating. I did get a
chance to use my new book light, though. Snookums woke up
to go to the bathroom and didn't even seem to notice I was
up reading. That was $10 well spent. I managed to get back
to sleep around 4:45am. Half an hour before Snookums'
alarm went off and woke me up again. I can't win for
losing it seems.

I hit the ground running this morning. As the saying goes.
I had to. I woke up spontaneously at 9:12am, which would
of been fine, if I didn't need to have the car at Novus by
10am. So, I had to get a move on pretty quick. The girls
and I managed to high-tail it out of the house by 9:45am.
We dropped the car off to get the windshield replace, then
walk across the street to the mall. I hadn't realized how
far of a walk it really is... When you're the size of a
house on stilts. The Kohl's parking lot looked like it was
3 miles long from my point of view!

Kiki played in Periscope Place (the play area in the mall)
for a good 2 and half hours before getting restless and
hungry. Just as I was putting her shoes back on and
getting read to take the girls' to the food court for
lunch, Novus called to let me know the Impala was done.
So, we made the journey back across the street to retrieve
my car. I stopped by McDonald's and got the girls happy
meals (I know, shame on me, but I had a headache and
didn't feel like doing better than that), then came home.
Annie immediately ran outside to play and Kiki laid down
on the couch and preceded to take a 3 hour nap. I wasn't
about to complain.

I spent a good part of the afternoon looking through baby
name books and perusing baby name websites. My thought was
that maybe if Snookums and I nailed down a name for the
baby, I'd be more inclined to bond with him. I accept that
the baby is a boy. I've looked at the penis ultrasound a
hundred times. You can't deny what it is. So, I compiled a
list of 12 names I liked that went well with Daniel Allen.
Which is the baby's middle and last names. They're a
given. Jason wants Daniel (his dad's name) for the middle
name, so he can have it. Even if it is a biblical name and
I'm not religious. I'm thinking of it more has my father-
in-law's name and he's a good man, so that makes it okay.
Apropo, in fact. Snookums has duty tonight, so I e-mailed
the list to him while he was on watch. His homework
tonight is to narrow the list down to the 5 or 6 he really
likes, then we'll go over those together tomorrow when he
gets home from work. Eventually we'll find the right one
and I'll have something to call the baby other than fetus.

I'm going to be heading back to my quarters now. It's time
for the 3 B's (bath, bed, book). I'm so tired. Please, all
that is holy and good, let me sleep! Ciao.
