My Life Thus Far

I Already Knew That

****

My goal was to have the laundry done by Wednesday, but
that didn't happen. Ultimately, I'd like to have it done
before Snookums comes home. Since that's SUPPOSE to happen
tomorrow (I'll believe it when I see him. Or hear about it
on the news) I should get it done tonight. I've got a
plan, though. I stripped the bed this afternoon and washed
our sheets (my favorite 400 thread count burgundy cotton
ones) and our comforter. I'll save them for last. I
figure, I'm less likely to crawl into bed, if all it's got
on it is a mattress cover. It's not nearly as much clothes
as it's been in the past. This was only a week's worth.
Annie's and most of Kiki's has already been put away.

I SO didn't want to get up this morning. I didn't fall
asleep until after 3am this morning. More like 4am and I
had to get up at 8am, so I was hurting. I dragged my sorry
ass out of bed, though, because I didn't want to rush or
risk running late. I had too much going on in a short
period of time.

I dropped Kiki off at therapy a little before 9am, then
Annie and I headed to her school for her conference. I was
really expecting the worst, but it turns out she's made
improvement since last quarter, raising all of her grades,
except for the one's that were already as high as they
could go. The only problems she's still having are
listening, shutting up and following directions. There's a
little issue with her being a "mean girl", too. She's
condescending towards the other kids and talks down to
them. She DID get something from me! Her teacher wants to
work on that almost more than the cooperative learning
skills. Ms. Hansen also said the note-taking has helped
immensely, especially in math. Annie doesn't require any
hands on help and has taken to helping other kids. In
reading, she's doing amazing. They gave me a copy of her
practice WASL standardized test results. She got 100% on
the Reading portion. Ms. Hansen said that's amazing. So,
Annie is smart. She just doesn't act like it sometimes! I
already knew that.

The only negative remarks Ms. Hansen really had to say
were about Annie's ADHD. She wants to put Annie in the
Highly Capable program (Annie tested for it last July, but
couldn't finish the test), but with Annie's inability to
control herself and follow simple instructions, she thinks
it would be setting Annie up for failure. She wants Annie
to go back on medication. I REALLY don't want to do that,
but behavioral interventions haven't helped. I don't know
what to do. I hate seeing Annie cry (one of the side
effects of the Concerta she was on). The side effects
turned Annie into an emotional mess. A bigger mess than me!

Both of the girls are on Spring Break now. No school next
week for either of them. So, I get the week off, too! No
chauffeuring. Annie has been such a big help around the
house lately. Helping me with Kiki, housework, ferrying
things up and down the stairs. She's been great. So, I'm
not dreading having her home like I used to. Snookums is
coming home tomorrow, too! Yeah! Hopefully he'll be on
Stennis hours next week (half days, basically). I still
need to replace the Impala's windshield and we have to get
new base decals for both vehicles. Time to do those things
would be wonderful.

After a busy morning, we had a fairly relaxed day. I met
my neighbor (the man) for the first time today. He knocked
on my door to tell me that he got rid of the puppy. The
one that kept coming in our yard. We talked for a good 10
minutes or so. Turns out, he's got a 5 year old son from
another relationship that doesn't live with him, but
that's how they got a three bedroom. She's pregnant and
his son comes to visit. So, I hate them a little less. His
southern accent is really thick. It was nearly a language
barrier, but I figured out what he was saying.

I need to go now. That laundry isn't going to finish
itself and I need to clean the kitchen. The girls and I
had pancakes, eggs and sausage for dinner. I made a mess.
Ciao for now.
