A Series Of Minor Inconveniences

It's morning now, but I still want it to be night. I slept
better than I have in awhile, but it wasn't enough. My
body cries out for more sleep. It's a never-ending
struggle getting enough and right now I'm failing.
Something's better than nothing, as a rule, so I'll be
grateful for what I got. If Annie hadn't gone brain-dead
this morning, I might have been able to sneak in a little
more, but water under the bridge. That opportunity has
passed.

Annie decided this morning that instead of getting up and
getting ready for school and catching the bus at 8:33am,
she needed to play with Kiki. So, instead of Annie coming
in to check with me before she left for the bus stop, I'm
awakened by the familiar sound of her bus stopping at the
stop sign outside my bedroom window. I bolt up in bed
trying to remember if I heard Annie leave and I didn't.
So, I went looking for her. She was sitting in the
playroom with Kiki. I asked her what she was doing, she
countered with another question. "What do you mean"? This
made me mad, but I tried to control myself. I then asked
her what day it was. She said "Wednesday". So, we
ascertained that she knew she was supposed to go to
school, but her reason for not going was because Kiki
wanted to play. I'm not sure how that was a logical excuse
in her mind, but she stuck to it. So, long story short, I
didn't get to sleep an extra hour. I had to drive her to
school. Not the end of the world, just a minor
inconvenience. What are children if not a series of minor
inconveniences? :)

I'm supposed to be getting dressed right now. Gen and I
are going to have coffee, which we both need. I got about
5 hours of broken sleep, she got less. So, we're both
hurting. We're also both mothers, so the probability of
getting more sleep today is more than likely not
happening. Caffeine will have to suffice.

SLEEP, SLEEP, SLEEP, SLEEP. It's free and easy to come by
for most. Yet, it's all I can think about right now. Ciao.
