My Life Thus Far

Died And Gone To Heaven

****

My house actually looks like people live in it! Not
because it's messy or smells like dirty diapers or kitty
box, either (although, sometimes it gets to that point).
But, because we FINALLY got around to putting up our
pictures! Not all of them, but most of them. The upstairs
is done. I'll finish the downstairs tomorrow. I keep
looking around the living and dining rooms in amazement.
I've grown accustomed to the white walls. All the pictures
are a little overwhelming and almost feel like too much,
but then I remind myself that I had the same wall hangings
in a space a third the size. Where were they all at? It
certainly didn't seem like there was that many in such a
small space. The condo didn't have a whole lot of wall
space compared to here, yet it seems like there's a
picture in every available bit of white space. Well, not
quite, but close.

We talked with Dan and Helena today. For the first time in
months. I try my best to avoid talking to them, but Helena
gets upset if you go too long without making contact. She
must stay informed. No sense in looking a gift horse in
the mouth. Is that a real saying or did I just make that
up? Anyway, turns out we won't be getting our baby gift
(the new SUV) until October now. The friend that was going
to drive it here from Michigan with her isn't going to be
able to do it after all, so we have to wait until Dan puts
his boat back in storage for the Winter before they'll
have time to drive it here. Whatever. We aren't paying for
it, so why be greedy? Helena also tried to get me to give
her a firm answer as to when I want her to come. How am I
supposed to do that at 7 months pregnant? How am I
supposed to know when I'm going to go into labor or if
I'll have to have a c-section? Really. When I told her
that, her response was "well, give me an answer I want to
buy my ticket early May to get a good rate". Yeah, sure.
I'll get right back with you on that. She said something
about staying 6 weeks. I'm seriously hoping I heard her
wrong. I don't need her here for 6 weeks, no matter what
happens. But I'd rather spend 6 weeks with Helena over 6
days with Sue. That's saying something.

As a reward for our progress in the house, we went to
Outback for dinner. It's not a place we go very often,
because it is a little on the pricey side, but we've been
pretty good with our money. There isn't a whole lot I
wanted other than to get our bills under control and to
make a few improvements around the house. I've pretty much
done that. So, anyhow. I digress. We had a nice dinner. I
have to admit of all the things on the menu, I ordered the
steamed veggies and thought I had died and gone to Heaven.
They were so good. Perfectly steamed and with just a hint
of salt and butter. Heaven, I tell you.

Well, that's all for today. The time change is kind of
working in my favor. The clock says 9pm, but my body
thinks it's 8pm, so I get to go to bed an hour earlier.
Not really, but it helps me make sense of the whole
daylight savings time thing. Ciao for now.
