Rest In Peace Mohawk

****

Yesterday, I was simply overwhelmed. I was in pain and
there was just too much for my poor body to do in order to
accomplish my ultimate ends. I wanted the house clean. I
wanted pictures on the wall. I wanted to finish at least
one project. ONE! Is that so much to ask for? Apparently,
because I never found the strength to even try. I stayed
in bed all day. Snookums came home and the day had ended
without me even so much as attempting all the things I
wanted to do.

Today was a different day. I had Snookums here to help.
The moral support (and him doing most of the work) was
much-needed. Every room in the house is cleaned, the
laundry has a respectable start, and I got a couple things
assembled and a few pictures hung. Did I mention I potted
4 new plants? Well, I did. There is life in my house now!
Other than my family and pets :)

Speaking of pets, we're not sure what happened, but Kiki's
fish, Mohawk died today. We thought he wasn't going to
make it through his first day, but he did and after that,
we didn't think we had to worry about him anymore. But,
today Annie was looking in the tank and asked "where's
Mohawk"? He was laying on his side amongst the rocks at
the bottom of the tank. Courtney (Annie's fish) is still
doing well. I guess we'll never know what happened to
Mohawk. So, rest in peace Mohawk. We had to put Snookums'
betas on top of the fridge. Yesterday morning Snookums
came into the kitchen and found the top off the tank and
the tank precariously close to the edge of the counter.
All this coincided perfectly with Zoe's new found ability
to jump on the counter. Zeus knows better, so we know it
was Zoe. She's in the process of being trained. Cats are
not tolerated on the kitchen counters. She's stubborn when
it comes to everything, though. She's not supposed to be
jumping at all until her stitches heal, but she doesn't
seem to notice anything happened to her.

I've taken measures to protect my houseplants from Zoe's
destructive tendencies. I told you about the rocks I got
to cover the soil, but I also took the added precaution of
soaking them down (leaves and dirt) in bitter spray. So,
if she decided to try to eat them, which I know some cats
try to do, she'll get a rude surprise. I'm spoiled by Zeus
and his model behavior. The only plant he can't resist is
Lavender, which I learned is because it's a close relative
of cat grass.

This morning Snookums snuck out and came back with 3 boxes
of Icy Hot back patches for me. I told him about the
recalled one's (which were Ben-gay patches, just in case
you were wondering) and how disappointed I was. So, he
surprised me with them. I've been wearing the one I have
on for the past 8 hours and I'm not sure if it's made much
of a difference. When I move in certain ways I still have
pain, but I suppose it's somewhat of a diversion. I've
felt lots of cold, not so much hot. Having a cold spot on
my back where my center of pain usually is, kind of takes
my mind off of being in as much pain. I smell like a
medicine chest, but other than that, it's fine. Zeus
doesn't like them. I was sitting on the couch earlier and
he nuzzled behind me and started pawing at my back and
biting my shirt. Like, he was trying to get it off. I'm
sure it has everything to do with the smell. I'm not so
fond of that myself.

That's all I've got to talk about today. I'm tired and
ready for bed. I hope Snookums is done putting laundry
away. Last time I checked, our bed was covered. Ciao!
