A Random Moment Of Happiness

****

Sometimes little things can make you feel so much better.
I went to the store a few minutes ago to get cat food and
it was very chilly outside. While out today I'd bought a
pretty empire waisted cable knit sweater (among other
things). The bag was still in the car, so I popped the
trunk and slipped the sweater on. Then I was warm :) It
was a little thing, but it made me happy. Honestly, I was
already in a pretty good mood for most of the day, but
that was just one example of a random moment of happiness.

This morning, I woke up feeling very bitchy. I slept okay
last night. Except for having to wake up a million times
to pee and turn over (there's no such thing as simply
turning over when you're pregnant. It's more like a four
point turn. The kind that would make you fail a driving
test). I took Annie to her early morning class, then came
home and showered and dressed. Gen and I had agreed to
meet for coffee at 10am, but my plans took a slight turn.
I stopped for gas on my way to Starbucks and my damn check
card was STILL being declined. So, I had to stop off at
the bank first. When I presented my problem to the teller,
she initially didn't seem phased by it. I'm sure with tax
returns coming in lots of people are exceeding the $2,500
limit the check card allows, but then she got this puzzled
look on her face and said "hmmmm". I knew that couldn't be
good. Then she dropped the bomb. "It looks as though your
card has been deactivated due to fraud". FRAUD?! What? I
didn't report my card stolen. How could it have been
stolen when she had it in her hand? So, I spent 45 minutes
at the bank, trying to get it all sorted out. Pretty much
every purchase I made from Friday until Monday was under
the fraud umbrella. My first transaction on Friday was
$415 for my purse. Which is out of my usual spending
pattern, so they got suspicious. They were so proud of
themselves for "catching it so quickly". I kindly pointed
out to them that had my card indeed been stolen, it took
them 3 days to cancel it and since it hadn't been stolen,
they'd just caused me undue embarrassment (my card was
declined when I tried to pay Zoe's vet bill) and
inconvenience. Stupid. So, now I have to wait the better
part of two weeks to get a new card, because mine is
useless. I'm still not sure what's going to happen with
the purchases we made this weekend. The money mysteriously
appeared back in my account, but they were legitimate
transactions. So, I hope it all works out.

I finally made it to coffee an hour later. At least
knowing why my card was being declined. So for the next
two weeks I'm using cash, which feels weird to me. I never
carry cash.

Gen needed to go to the mall to pick up her new wedding
set and I wanted to stop in Motherhood Maternity for some
Secret Fit capri pants. I bought a pair of denim capris at
Old Navy this past weekend, but every time I bend over,
they slip down. I had to get them a size bigger to fit my
belly, but my hips and butt don't hold them up, so I bend
over and down come my pants. It's very annoying. I love
the Secret Fit, though. They don't even look like
maternity pants when you put a top on, they have a
microfiber tummy panel that keeps them in place. I'm in
love. I'll wear them long after the baby is born, because
they're so comfy :)

After that I came home. Snookums came home early from work
because he's got strep throat and is contagious. Great.
For some odd reason Kiki just couldn't live without him
today. She wanted to be with him so much, I decided to
give her what she wanted. So, her and daddy laid in bed
with each other the rest of the afternoon. It was cute,
but I hope she doesn't come down with strep throat, too.

The reason I went to the store a few minutes ago was to
get cat food, but I all of a sudden had a very compelling
urge for watermelon. Every pregnancy I crave watermelon,
but I'm always pregnant in the winter months when
watermelon is hard to come by. So, I just spent twice as
much for a quarter of a watermelon as I would have spent
for a whole watermelon during the summer months. I'm sure
it will be worth it :) I'm going to savor every juicy
bite...Ciao!
