I'm Showing Growth

****

I had a good day today. It wasn't great, because I was in
a bit of a mood (by that, I mean I was a little bitchy).
Which just proves money can't buy happiness, because I
have money and I still wasn't very happy. Even shopping
wasn't all that wonderful. I know why, though.

I'm not sure if Kiki woke up on the wrong side of the
toddler bed too, or if my mood rubbed off on her, but she
was a little difficult today. She started out sweet (as
usual), but quickly got a little cranky, which didn't mesh
well with my cranky. So, I didn't do as much shopping as I
would have liked to. I'm sure this was a good thing, so
I'm not going to be too upset about it.

We went to Bangor because I wanted to look at the
Exchange's Coach selection. Before we did that, we stopped
in Subway to have lunch. I hadn't eaten yet and I thought
maybe I'd feel better if I did. Kiki got all sorts of
attention, because she just looked so darn cute. I had her
in a little aqua blue gingham print dress with a striped
sweater over it. Her hair was in little pigtails. She was
adorable. So, we shared a turkey breast and ham sandwich,
then went purse hunting.

I ended up getting the Heritage Stripe Tote in khaki and
pink, with the matching wallet. If I were to have bought
them online or at Macy's I would have paid $516 (before
tax or shipping), but I saved over $100 because of the
military discount and no tax at the Exchange. It was still
expensive, though. So, it's the only thing I bought
myself. It's definitely a splurge I appreciate more now
than I did in the past. I'm showing growth :) and not just
in my butt and belly!

Kiki and I stopped by the mall to pick up my paycheck and
to see if we could find daddy a present. After spending so
much on myself, I couldn't leave Snookums out. I ended up
getting him a Nike track suit and some polo shirts at
Champs. He rarely ever buys himself anything anymore. I
wanted to get him something. At that point, Kiki decided
she wasn't going to walk anymore. She was going to stand
in the middle of the mall, cross her arms and pout. I
tried carrying her out, but she's too heavy. I tried
luring, threatening and bribing, but nothing worked.
That's when our moods really collided and I had to step
back, take a deep breath and remember that she's only two
and I'm still smarter than her. So, I challenged her to a
race to the car. Her gangly baby giraffe run is about as
fast as my brisk walking pace, so that got her moving and
me happily out of the mall. Crisis averted.

When Snookie got home, he wanted to go BACK to the mall to
look at Champs for shoes. I agreed only because I really
wanted to go in the Disney store, but didn't want to brave
such a place without another able bodied adult as
reinforcement. Snookums didn't find any shoes he wanted,
but Annie got a pair of Heelys (those god-awful tennis
shoes with the wheels in them). She's been wanting some
for years. We finally gave in. Only because they were
ridiculously cheap ($19.99) and she's been good lately.
Kiki on the other hand cleaned up like a bandit. The
Disney Store in our mall is closing, so everything is on
sale. It was crazy. People were buying the displays,
fighting over the last Mickey whatever. I grabbed a bag
and Kiki swept through the store like she was on
Supermarket Sweep. I'm not even sure what she ended up
with, other than the Winnie The Pooh wall hanging Snookums
had tucked under his arm when we left. I'll have to look
through it tomorrow. It was fun, but I'm glad I'm home
now. I'm tired. So tired.

I think a big part of my bad mood today is because of the
baby. It's been in a breach position for most of the day
and it's very uncomfortable. Now's around the time the
baby turns head down for good and it's kind of an
unpleasant journey for me. Kiki did the same thing. She
stayed breach for a good week and the combination of that
and Braxton Hicks contractions didn't make me a very happy
camper. I hope this baby doesn't take it's time turning
over.

Okay, I'm off to bed now. I think Snookums is already
asleep. He's been working longer and harder than he's
accustomed to. I appreciate it. Or life is pretty good
thanks to him. Ciao.
