My Life Thus Far

The Very Best Of Both Worlds

****

I thought today was going to be a really good day, until I
tried to buy a $2 cup of hot chocolate at the 76 station
down the street. Let me elaborate: Every Tuesday and
Thursday, Kiki has therapy. I inevitable end up stopping
in the 76 station for a cup of their hot chocolate or
coffee. It isn't Starbucks, but I still like it (a guilty
pleasure, kind of). Well, today I tried to get that
traditional cup of warmth, but my card was declined. The
nice lady let me have it anyway, but I was shocked.
Yesterday when I'd checked our balance, there was $340 in
there. So, why on Earth didn't it go through? So, I high-
tailed it home to look at our account online. There wasn't
anything posted that was out of the ordinary, so I called
the bank. Turns out, when Snookums went to pay Annie's
daycare they charged him double, instead of $124, they
charged $248. That, along with a few little things that
have yet to clear, left us with nothing. They've fixed the
problem on daycare's end, but Navy Federal still hasn't
posted the money back to our account. They better hurry
the hell up. There's nothing more unsettling than not
having any money. I was relieved that it wasn't any
negligence on our part, but still not happy about the
whole situation. So, that tainted my good mood first thing
this morning.

After I'd dropped Kiki off at daycare, I went back to
Farrell's to pick up my maternity band. It's huge. It
feels like my tummy is in a straight jacket. It doesn't
help at all with my pelvic issues, although it does
relieve some of my lower back pain. Pain I'm accustomed to
and hardly even notice. Tricare (our insurance) covered
the whole $65, thankfully. I would definitely go without
it if they didn't.

Work was fun today! I'm loving the fact that things are
back to normal at work. I don't have to deal with sale
prices and haggling with customers about discounts.
Nothing is on sale. We're an upscale store. We don't do
discounts. Most of the time. Even though people still ask.
Why do people still come in and ask when our sale ended.
Most store's sales last a weekend or a week tops. Ours
went on for damn near 3 weeks, yet people were still
pissed that it ended "so soon". Whatever. I'm glad it's
over. Semi-annual makes the store feel ghetto.

I talked with Tamara about my condition and how my doctor
told me to stop working and the arrangement Snookums and I
had agreed on. She thinks it's perfectly fine and is
willing to work me in. I don't know what was up with
Jenny, but Tamara was totally understanding which made me
very happy. I'll change my availability tonight and
Snookums has already told the daycares that we're pulling
the girls out in two weeks. We have to give them two weeks
notice, I don't know why. So, the wheels are in motion.
Soon, I'll be a bonafide stay at home mom again. With a
little part-time job on the side :) The very best of both
worlds.

Snookums had $14 in his wallet and came to take me to
lunch today. Wasn't that sweet of him? I'd accepted that
all I was having for lunch was water, so it was a nice
surprise. I got my chicken Vesuvio after all. So, my day
had a happy ending. I've gotta run now. Snookums gave me
30 minutes to write in my diary, change my availability
(which is done online) and fill out the two weeks notice
paperwork for the daycares. I've already used up 16
minutes, of it, so I'd better be going. Ciao for now.
