The Highlight Of My Morning Was A Mango

****

I had such a good day today. I didn't think I would when I
was forced out of my warm, cozy bed at 7:30am this morning
(to get Kiki ready for therapy on time, for a change), but
once I got accustomed to the idea, I recovered. I kind of
had a trial run of what it would be like to be a true stay
at home mom. For the first time since Kiki was 9 months
old. It wasn't so bad. Not at all.

It's late and I should be in bed, but Snookums isn't here
to make me (duty) and I'm in a good mood, so I don't feel
like brooding in bed. I'm energized!!! Okay, I'm sleepy
and over-compensating for it. Let me just elaborate on my
day, then get to bed. My goal is midnight. I need at least
7 hours of sleep to not be a bitch. I have to get up early
again in the morning to take Annie to that underachiever's
class. Which, just thinking about makes me want to be a
bitch.

While Kiki was in therapy, I thought I would take the
opportunity to get a little exercise in. It was such a
beautiful day today. NAD park is close to Holly Ridge
(Kiki's therapy center), so I stopped there. I parked
across the street, which is about 200 yards from the head
of the trail. I was feeling pretty good when I first got
out of the car, but by the time I got to the trail, I was
limping, my hip was stiff and my crotch was burning. That
didn't feel very good, so I just turned around and
dejectedly waddled back to the car. I remember when I used
to walk up and down those trails all the time. Now I
couldn't even GET to the trail. How sad. I ended up
shuffling around Red Apple supermarket until it was time
to pick Kiki up. The highlight of my morning was a mango.
I bought a big, ripe mango at Red Apple. I almost forgot
about it, but I think I'll have it as my evening snack.

After therapy, Kiki and I spent the day with Gen and
Cyrus. It was nice getting out and doing something with
Gen. It seems like we hardly ever do that anymore. We
didn't do anything special. Just coffee and lunch at Olive
Garden. After lunch, the kids got sleepy. It was cute.
They both fell asleep in the car and were snoring in
unison. It's funny how something like snoring is cute when
Kiki does it, but exceedingly annoying when her dad does
it.

On the way home, Kiki woke up from her nap and we had some
time until Annie's bus dropped her off, so I decided to
take Kiki on a little field trip. Kiki loves animals, so I
decided to take her to Petco to see the animals. She was
in heaven. She saw a pit bull puppy, a dachshund, baby
ferrets, mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, tropical
birds, fish, turtles, snakes and lizards. Pretty much in
that order. It was so much fun seeing the looks on her
face. Kiki has never seen most of those animals in person
before, so it made me feel good to be the one to show them
to her. She's scared of snakes. Even in their cages,
completely dormant.

The evening was pretty much the same as usual. The girls
and I had microwave meals for dinner (why cook if I don't
have to?) and watched Disney Channel. Kiki is passed out
on the couch now because I didn't get around to putting
her in bed. I guess I should go do that.

Unless you live under a very heavy, unmoving rock, I'm
sure everyone's heard about Heath Ledger. Usually I don't
feel too much sympathy for celebrities, but I was actually
sad when I heard about him dying. He's so young and he's
got a little girl Kiki's age. Even though people made fun
of Brokeback Mountain, I thought it was a really touching
movie. Maybe because I'm not a raging homophobe. I just
saw it as a love story. Regardless of whether or not it
was two men or a heterosexual couple. Anyhow, I just
thought I would mention that.

It's almost 11:30pm I should be going to bed now. Ciao.
