The Best Christmas EVER!

*****

Sorry I didn't write last night, I was too busy enjoying
the holiday festivities with my children. I made chicken
tacos for dinner, we baked 4 dozen cookies (for Santa, of
course), and then opened a Christmas Eve present. New
jammies. There's something wonderful about a new pair of
pajamas. I figured it would be hard for them to go to bed.
At least for Annie, Kiki isn't fully aware of the Santa
phenomena yet. So, I let them stay up later. Annie put out
Santa's cookies and milk. Reindeer food (a project she
made at daycare. Basically, different kinds of cereals)
and carrots, because "the reindeer get hungry, too". 363
days out of the year, Annie doesn't believe in Santa, but
Christmas Eve and Christmas day, she's a believer.

Annie and Kiki came into our bedroom this morning at 6am,
ready to open presents. We tested their patients a little.
We all curled up in our bed. Snookums and I had coffee and
the girls listened to Christmas songs. I did not want to
get up, but for the sake of my kids, I did. The dove under
the tree like ravenous barracudas. Paper went flying. It
was fun watching them. Although I'm glad I've grown into
an adult with a little more restraint.

Snookums and I spent most of our day assembling new toys.
He tackled the furniture (new playroom chairs and a dining
room table), I applied stickers to Barbie's dream house
and removed her microscopic stuff (silverware, dishes,
flowers, etc.) from the impossibly sturdy plastic they
like to wrap it in. I also spent an hour assembling the
new kitty condo I bought for Zeus and Zoe. The thing
stands almost 3 feet off the ground and is round, very
contemporary. You'd have to see it to understand. Zeus is
slightly big for it, but he likes the bottom level (that
has a bed in it). Zoe hasn't ventured in yet, but I think
she'll like it once she finds her courage. Just as
Snookums and I were starting to get very frustrated by our
projects, we looked outside and noticed that it had
started snowing. We got a white Christmas :) In
Washington, that just doesn't happen often. At that moment
we decided that this was the best Christmas EVER! We're
not kids anymore and it isn't going to be like it was when
we were, but if we make it good for our kids, it's good
for us, too.

My Christmas was pretty good. I have to give Snookums
credit. He did really well by me as far as presents go. I
still got a few off the wall ones like deodorant, a meat
thermometer and a couple really big nail files. But, I got
some good ones too. Like, 4 different Prada perfumes. A
Coach keychain. An electric grill (that's actually pretty
sweet) and an absolutely breathtaking butterfly necklace.
That was from Helena, but since I wouldn't know Helena
without Snookums, he can have a little of the credit, too.
This necklace is amazing. It's white gold with rainbow
enameling. I can't even describe it really, but it's
breathtaking. I'm wearing it tomorrow.

Snookums loved his gifts. I bought him a new electric
razor. The Phillips Norelco that pivots. He just had to
have it. I'll never understand the need for a $100 razor,
but since he doesn't question my need for a $300 purse, I
won't question him either. He's in the bathroom shaving
now. At 9pm, because he had to wait 8 hours for it to
fully charge. I bought him Robert B. Parker books, which
is the only author he reads (thanks Dad) and C.O Bigelow
products from Bath and Body Works that smell so rustic and
manly, I just wanted to jump all over him when he tested
it on his shirt this morning.

Kiki and Annie were occupied all day. Snookums bought
Annie High School Musical 2, so between Barbie and the
movie, she was quiet most of the day. Kiki dragged
everything around in the little stroller I got her and
even though she loved Tickle Me Elmo, she got scared every
time he fell over. She tried to comfort him, because she
thought he was hurt. I'm sure she'll figure him out in
time.

After everything was put together and in it's rightful
place, Snookums and I got to relax while the girls
scampered off to the playroom with their new stuff. I took
a couple naps and made meals. That's pretty much all I did
today. I guess that's all for now. Snookums wants me to
hurry up. Ciao!
