Are Some People's Children That Ugly?

****

"What we think or what we believe is, in the end, of
little consequence.
The only thing of consequence is what we do."
~ John Ruskin

I find it hard to keep up on my diary on weekends now. I
know it's because on Friday I go out right at the time I
would normally be writing, but I usually make up for it
Saturday morning, or Saturday evening. But, the past two
weekends I've gone out both Friday and Saturday. I don't
usually do that and I have no intention of continuing to
do that. It's too much. Friday nights are Misty and my
time to not be moms for awhile. We know our children are
safe in bed while we go out and act like children! It's
not going to last forever. I know I'll get tired of it
eventually, but for now I'm enjoying it.

Friday was a good day, I really can't complain. Work was
on the strange side. The vibe was weird. Our store is part
of a test. They're giving us a ton of hours to see if
having more people working will improve sales. Already I
can tell them how the test is going...Not well. It
seriously felt like we were having a store meeting or were
doing brand guide (both of which occur after the store is
closed). We were crawling all over each other, the traffic
in the store was enough for 2 girls to handle, but we had
at any give time 5 or 6. That my not sound like much, but
our store is only 2,500 sq ft. Which is small. So, I spent
the better part of my day replenishing. Filling bra walls,
putting panties out on tables from back stock and under
storage. It was enough to keep me entertained for my short
4 hour shift.

After work, we all went out as a family for dinner.
Chinese Buffet, baby! I don't like eating there often, but
once in awhile, when I'm in the mood for pineapple chicken
or rice noodles (my two favorite things there), I don't
mind it. The girls (and of course Snookums) love it. It's
always a crowd pleaser. While we were there, we had the
strangest occurrence. Well, it wasn't really strange, just
different. We were sitting at a round table across from
this older couple. All of us were facing them because of
the table's shape. The older man kept looking at Jason and
I, then at the girls. Back and forth, several times. To
the point that I started to get a little irritated. Jason
got up to get Kiki more to drink and the man got up
shortly after, came over to the table and told me "You've
got some good looking kids" and gave me the thumbs up
sign. I don't think I've ever had a man tell me that.
Woman say the girls are cute all the time, but never men.
Except for this one guy at Annie's daycare, but he's not a
stranger. I think my children are attractive, don't get me
wrong, but I never thought they were attractive enough to
garner as many compliments as they do. What? Are some
people's children that ugly?

Mako's wasn't it's usual hoppin place Friday night. It
wasn't as crowded, it wasn't as happy. Everyone seemed
tired. Almost no one wanted to dance. I was in a good
mood, though and I'd been looking forward to going all
day, so I hopped my happy ass up on the staged and danced
away. Konomi showed up later and we went up to dance
together. I like it on the stage. You have more room, it's
carpeted, so it's not as slippery (heels are precarious on
the wooden dance floor) and even though you're elevated 3
feet higher than everyone else, no one really stares.
They're all doing their own thing. After Mako's we went to
Shari's as per tradition. Even when we move to Jackson
Park, I think we'll still do that.

Saturday, we spent in bed. Just lounging around as a
family. That was it. It feels good to do that one
(sometimes two) days a week. We run around so much during
the week between school, work and daycare/therapy. I'm
grateful for that time. It recharges my batteries, which
I'm starting to think are the old fashioned rechargeable
kind that take 24 hours to charge, but only work for 15
minutes.

We went out last night again because my friend Amber was
coming out. I haven't seen her in a blue moon. Her husband
and Snookums know each other and see each other at work,
but Amber and I only have Mako's. So, I had to go out
again. I wasn't feeling it as much last night. I was
tired, feeling a little queasy and didn't want to drink. I
don't appreciate the taste of alcohol, but I don't mind
the buzz it gives :) So, there's a little give and take.
But, because I didn't feel quite right last night, I
didn't drink. I had a shot of Tequila, but it didn't agree
with me, so I stopped there. I did feel like dancing,
though. My ass was back up on that stage dancing away.
Only, I had a small mishap on my way up the second time. I
had a guy try to help me up, but my itty bitty little
stiletto heel tipped out from under me and I went to catch
myself on my left hand and bend my thumb back in a most
unnatural position. It hurt like you wouldn't believe. Our
evening was cut short at that point. Not too short, it was
already after 1am at that point. We dropped Misty off at
home, she gave me a Naproxen (which when it kicked in,
really did help) and we headed off to my favorite place!
Naval Hospital. Even at 2am, it still took them 2 hours to
get it x-rayed (twice) and tell me it wasn't broken only
sprained. So, 2 hours later, I come out with a lovely
thumb/wrist splint thing and not a stitch of pain
medication. What's up with that? I'm not too upset about
it. It's feeling much better now and I wouldn't have taken
the meds anyway (unless they'd been Vicodin)!

After we left the ER, we stopped in Denny's because
Snookums was hungry. It wasn't as good as Shari's in my
opinion, but it was okay.

Today was another lazy day. We lounged around the house. I
kept my arm elevated to reduce the swelling in my thumb.
It's better now. I can move it again. Last night by the
time I'd gotten to the hospital, it had swollen up so much
I couldn't move my thumb, which didn't convince them so
much when I said I knew it wasn't broken. But, anyhow.
That's been my weekend. Ciao, I'm off to bed now. Next
week is going to be quite eventful.
