I'm Such A Pushover

****

When my mind is at rest and I am empty and receptive, the
easy and beautiful unfolding takes place. This is known as
recovering the easy way.

Jim McGregor

I had a really great day today. Even though it's Labor Day
and I generally don't work on holidays, I didn't mind
working this one. It's not like it's a major one or
anything and I did make time and a half. It was busy. We
were goaled to make twice as much as we usually do on a
Monday and we made it. Credit was hard to come by, but for
the most part, our numbers were good.

Not that I'm a procrastinator or anything, but after work
I went on a scavenger hunt for Annie's school supplies
(she starts 3rd grade tomorrow). I tried Wal-mart, then
Target. Both had a few things on her list, but not all of
them. As a last ditch effort, I stopped in Staples. I was
shocked and pleasantly surprised. They had everything she
needed and then some. Fully stocked and half the price of
Wal-mart or Target. So, Annie's all ready for school and I
don't feel like an unfit mother :) I remember growing up
and not having what I was supposed to have the first day
of school. My mom would go to Wal-mart or K-mart last
minute and if they didn't have something on my list, I
didn't get it until they restocked, which meant I was
often unprepared. I hated that feeling and vowed I'd never
do that to my children. I'm keeping that promise, because
it's important to feel prepared. Especially to a child
with Annie's school-related issues.

Since those are the only two noteworthy events that
occurred in my day, I suppose that's all I've got to say.
I'm going to bed now. I was supposed to have tomorrow off,
but Tamara called me a couple hours after I got off and
asked me to work a 9-2 shift with a 2-4 on-call. Since I'm
unable to say no, I said yes. I'm such a pushover. Ciao.
