Something Misschievious and Devilishly Fun

*****

There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and
no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better
tomorrow.

Orison Swett Marden

Man, I have so much catching up to do, I had to sit for a
minute and take notes so I wouldn't leave anything out!
These past few days have been a whirlwind of activity.
More activity than I'm used to, but it was fun. I can't
say I'm upset by it though. Life is far more interesting
when something misschievious and devilishly fun is going
on! I'll break everything down by days of the week, so no
one gets lost. BEWARE, this is going to be a VERY long
entry. If you need to pee, do it now. If you need a drink
or a snack. Stop here. You're gonna be reading for
awhile...My last entry left off on Wednesday...

THURSDAY:

Karma decided I needed to pay for calling in sick on
Wednesday and blaming it on a perfectly healthy Kiki, so
Thursday, 3/4 into my shift, Kiki's daycare called me at
work. Kiki had "explosive" diarrhea. what that means in
daycare terms, is that the poop is not contained by the
diaper. In such an event, the parent must be called to
pick up the child. This didn't ruin my day, because Kiki's
diarrhea wasn't caused by illness, rather an adverse
reaction to dinner the night before. She'd devoured a
plate of Dinty Moore beef stew and apparently it didn't
agree with her. This is normal for Kiki. The poor child
has digestive issues most of us wouldn't understand. Corn
passes through her unscathed and so do beans of all kinds
(except the green variety) and milk products. She's got
her dad's tummy. Anyhow. Other than keeping a few extra
diapers on hand, she was no added work to take care of.

Dad and I still went to get our tattoos. Ron came along
for moral support and to keep Kiki occupied, since she had
to come along as well. Dad did really well getting his
tattoo. He showed no signs of pain, even though I know for
sure (because he said as much afterwards) that it hurt a
touch. Getting tatted is a right of passage. You must take
it like a man! Yeah, whatever. I prefer to take it like a
woman. When it was my turn, I did what any woman would do.
I talked everyone's ears off, cursed the man that was
causing me pain and then submerged myself in some deep,
philosophical reading...Playboy and Penthouse to be
precise. It's funny. Once I started reading the articles
(yes, ladies, when guys say they're reading Playboy for
the articles, they aren't lying. The damn magazine
couldn't of had more than 3 naked pictures in it. The rest
was all words) the pain became far more bearable. It was
over before I'd even had enough.

Later that night, Misty, Dad, Ron and I met up at Mako's
to celebrate her birthday. Misty's the big 3-0! The place
was absolutely dead. It was so dead, there wasn't even a
DJ, just a juke box playing a hodge-podge of music none of
us were really into. So, we left. We tried End Zone, but
by the looks of the parking lot, it wasn't any better.

We ended up hitting our usual late night spot. Shari's.
I've eaten at Shari's more in the past two weeks than I
think I've eaten there in the past year. I'm not
complaining though. They've drastically improved their
menu.

Somehow, someone came up with the idea of going to Toys
Topless. I'd never been in a strip club before, so I was
game. In all actuality, it wasn't as seedy as I'd
anticipated, but it wasn't all that, either. It's funny
how many of the girls I recognized from seeing in VS. I
wasn't too impressed by the displays, but to my surprised,
I wasn't mortified, either. I didn't feel the need to look
away or laugh about it (in a giggly school girl kid of
way). 30 minutes later, we'd all had enough. Misty dropped
us off at my house and we all went our separate ways. It
was fun, but I think the company was better than the
diversions. In fact, I know so.

FRIDAY:

Much to my chagrin, Dad had to go home on Friday. Work
awaited him back in San Diego and eventually he would have
had to go back to meet Chris (who's due back from Japan
soon)even if he could have stayed beyond Friday. There's
always something to get in the way of a good time. Anyhow.
One of dad's favorite things to do (in Seattle, at least)
is to take the ferry. So, instead of driving to the
airport, we took the ferry to Seattle. It was such a
beautiful day and the air was so clean. I'm sure it was as
lovely an experience as one who lives in a smog-filled
city could ever hope to enjoy. Even though I've lived here
in Washington State for over a decade, I still enjoy the
crispness of the air. There are few places left in
metropolitan America that don't smell like the back end of
a city bus.

Once we got to the airport, we didn't have much time for a
lingering goodbye. You aren't allowed to park your car at
the departure area. You practically have to come to a
rolling stop and push your family members out, along with
their luggage, but in this instance I was kind of glad of
it. It could have gotten real emotion, real quick, if I'd
been allowed to blubber.

So, to cheer myself up about after dad's departure, I
stopped by the Tacoma Mall on the way home. It's twice as
big as the Kitsap Mall (where I work) with the same stores
we have, only bigger and even more other stores we don't
have. I didn't buy anything, but I enjoyed looking around,
with the intent to buy should I have come across anything
I absolutely HAD to have. Luckily, nothing jumped out at
me. Other than an Oreo Jamoca shake at Baskin Robbins.
Yum. That stuff is a coronary obstruction in a recyclable
plastic cup, but I love them.

SATURDAY:

I got a call first thing in the morning from one of my
managers. Jenny. She started off the conversation
with "are you busy right now?" Which, instantly puts you
on guard. What do you say? Yes, No? Maybe? I went
with "not at the moment...why?". She went on to explain
that there had been a drawing done by corporate. Each
store had 5 entries (the highest 5 in credit and sales had
been entered) and 2 were selected randomly to receive $80
in PINK merchandise. I was one of them! So, that afternoon
I went in to pick out my prize. It was a hard decision.
Since there were no exceptions. I could have whatever I
wanted. I ended up with a red hoodie and some grey sweats.
I would have gotten a matching sweat suit, but we didn't
have any matching tops and bottoms in my size. If we had
the top, we didn't have the bottom and vise versa.

Later that evening, I had Selena come and watch the girls
while Ron and I went out. It always seems weird to me to
say that, but Snookums doesn't mind. I told him about it
and he was okay with it. So, yeah. Maybe it's because he
believes nothing can happen in public, and he's right.
Nothing would. Anyhow, back on track. We had dinner at
Gino's here in Port Orchard. It used to be this hoity-
toity seafood place called Tweten's that didn't have the
best food or atmosphere, mostly because it was always
ghost town empty. Now it's a hoity-toity Italian place,
but at least the food is better and the turn out is
better. I have yet to see an evening where the parking lot
isn't respectfully fool. So, Saturday I had the salmon in
a Grand Marnier Liquor sauce (which was heavenly) and Ron
had the halibut in a white cream sauce. These were two of
the biggest portions of fish I'd ever seen in a
restaurant. I had the salmon bisque with my meal and that
was divine as well. I was very happy with Gino's. I'll
definitely go back. Even if they are on the pricey side.

After dinner, we saw a movie. Stardust. It was actually so
much better than I'd anticipated. I thought it was going
to be hopelessly Sci-Fi and it was a little, but it was
almost more on the fairytale side. It had such a happy
ending. I wish I'd gone and seen in with Snookums though.
It was a beautiful love story. There were even a few funny
moments. I recommend it if you have nothing else to do on
some lonely night in the near future.

SUNDAY:

I didn't do a damn thing all day on Sunday. I could have
cleaned. I could have done laundry, but I didn't. I wanted
to do nothing, so that's what I did. Misty stopped by
around 2:30pm and took Annie to her house. You have no
idea how lovely that was. All I had was Kiki, who is a
little angel when her big sister isn't around. She
literally sat on the living room rug and didn't move from
it all the rest of the day. I turned on Dora the Explorer
and she cycled between playing, watching tv, sleeping and
snacking on cups of milk and processed cheese food slices
(I can't call them cheese, but she loves them none the
less).

MONDAY (that would be today):

It was strange waking up to a house with no Annie in it. I
rolled out of bed around 9am to discover a quiet house and
a still-sleeping Kiki, which never happens. Inevitably one
or both children are up before me. Willing me out of bed.
Not today. I had a leisurely start to my day.

For the first time in over two weeks, Gen and I did coffee
this morning. We didn't have a whole lot of time, because
I was a little too leisurely this morning, but something
was better than nothing. I enjoyed seeing her and talking
with for the first time in so long. It was like we read
each other's minds. I was thinking of calling her right as
she called me. That would be why we're friends. Great
minds think alike.

Work was phenomenal and I don't use that word lightly. My
workday started out ordinarily enough, until about an hour
into my shift, I got a nice surprise. Brittany told me
over the headset that I had a call on line 1. The only
people that call me at work are the girls' daycares. Since
Annie wasn't at daycare, my process of elimination skills
lead me to believe it was Kiki's daycare calling. When I
answered the phone, with much trepidation, I was shocked
to here the familiar "hey, baby" from Snookums! We
couldn't talk for long, because I was at work, but hearing
from him in such a surprising way, made me feel good the
rest of the day. Because of my happiness I was able to
rack up 8 cards today, instead of the paltry 1 or 2 I've
been getting. I think I made my goal this week :)

Annie got home around 7:45pm tonight. Misty bought her
home for me, which was so nice of her. I'm glad her
daughter, Cierra and Annie get along so well. Both of them
need a friend their age. Now they've got each other.

Okay. That's all for now. My eyes are dry and hurting and
I think I'm developing carpal tunnel syndrome. This entry
is so long. You might need to bookmark it and come back
later to finish! I'm kidding. If you got this far, you're
already done. Ciao. I'm going to bed now.
