My Life Thus Far
Stained and Beaten Up
****
The only conquests which are permanent and leave no
regrets, are our conquests over ourselves.
Napoleon Bonaparte
It's hard to believe that such an angry little man like
Napoleon actually said something profound in his lifetime.
Who knew?
I had another good day. It would have been a 5 star day
had I gotten to sleep before 3am and wasn't so tired. I've
been having trouble getting to sleep at a decent hour
lately and it's starting to catch up with me. I've had a
mild headache most of the day and I want a nap, but I know
that will just throw me off even more (probably what
happened yesterday) and then I'll be in even more trouble.
As I was on my way to drop off the girls, my friend Ron
called and invited me to breakfast with him. I haven't
seen him in awhile, so that was nice. He's got a
girlfriend now and seems to be really happy. I hope
everything works out for him. He deserves to be happy.
Gen and I spent a good portion of the day together. We did
our Starbucks thing, then she and I (including Cyrus, who
wasn't a willing participant) went shopping at Ross. Gen
needed some post-pregnancy clothes. I didn't need anything
and am currently all shopped out. So, I came out with
$3.99 (for all 4) bamboo place mats. I've been looking for
something to replace the burgundy ones the girls have
successfully stained and beaten up.
After Gen and I parted ways, I stopped on base to pick up
diapers, which I forgot yesterday and to clean out the
car. I didn't have time to do the outside, but the inside
was what really needed to be done. The girls (and I, I'm
not totally innocent) were on the path to destruction and
I needed to head it off before it got too bad. It's clean
again. As clean as the inside of my house. Which, I'm so
pleased to come home to now. I need to impose the NEVER
AGAIN rule on the car.
When we got home, I tossed in the last load of laundry and
put in the dirty clothes I found in the car. So, tonight
the laundry gets done. It's a little late, but it's still
getting completed. I even took a moment to vacuum the rugs
and wipe down the mirrors. I'm trying to do a little at a
time, so I never have to do marathon cleaning sessions.
That's all for today. It wasn't very exciting, but it was
good. Tomorrow is an early day for me. I've got therapy
(someone took my usual Thursday spot, damn them) and then
I work 9-3. I have GOT to get some sleep tonight. Ciao.
