My Life Thus Far
I Love Watermelon
****
Many people
go from one thing
to another
searching for happiness
But with each new venture
they find themselves
more confused
and less happy
until they discover
that what they are
searching for
is inside themselves
and what will make them happy
is sharing their real selves
with the ones they love
Susan Polis Schutz
That one was a bit more sentimental at the end than I
would like. It was good until the "sharing their real
selves with the ones they love" part. That was mushy.
There is nothing warm and fuzzy about the real me. Ask
anyone who knows me (and by knows, I mean actually know
the real me, not what my name is or what I look like. Big
difference).
Since I had today off (due to excessive amounts of
shipment and the need to cut hours), I spent the majority
of it with Gen. Kiki had her usual therapy (which is only
on Monday's during the summer months), but after that, it
was Gen and I. We didn't do much, but that doesn't matter.
We're masters of wasting a whole day doing nothing much.
We went to Starbucks for awhile. Then we went to the
Bangor Exchange to look at Coach bags (also Coach watches,
clothes, over-priced make-up and the inside of the
Starbucks bathroom. There's one in the exchange, too).
After that we had lunch at JJ's Fish House on the Poulsbo
waterfront. We both ordered the salmon, but ended up with
halibut. I thought we should have gotten some sort of
compensation for having to wait twice as long for out
food, but no such luck. I left the girl a crappy tip,
instead. If she'd caught me on a bad day I might have been
a bitch.
I got a call from my landlady today. Which is weird,
because we only ever talk once a year. Usually around
Christmas, except for that one time I bounced the rent
check, but that was more Snookums' fault than mine.
Anyhow, my neighbors have been complaining to her about
the smoke (boohoo for them), so she wanted to tell me
about that. She said they'll just have to deal with it,
but their moving anyway, so not to worry. That wasn't the
only reason for the call though. She also wanted to tell
me that she's thinking of selling the condo. I wonder why?
The market is crap when it comes to selling and we're a
steady income each month. But, it's her property. She can
do as she pleases. This just means it looks like we'll be
moving into Naval Housing after all. I kind of wanted to
anyway. More home for the money and no utilities (except
for the luxuries like cable, internet and phone).
I did something this evening that I haven't done in
probably about 3 years. I gave Zeus a bath. Normally, I
don't bother, because he's an indoor cat, but lately he's
been a bad boy and has taken to running outside whenever
he gets the chance. That's not the worst part. He's also
taken to rolling in the dirt and climbing pine trees. So,
he gets the sap stuck in his long fur and then coats it in
dirt. He hates being brushed and it's too hard to get out
anyway, so he got dunked. He howled and screeched like I
was killing him, but he's a clean kitty now :)
I think I'll go eat watermelon in bed. I love
watermelon :) Ciao.
