It matters not what you are thought to be, but what you
are.

Syrus

I had such a FANTABULOUS day today! For the first time, I
actually enjoyed life! Maybe it was because I stepped out
of the ordinary box I live in and did something different.
Something fun. Something other than just dealing with
life. I LIVED.

I woke up feeling really good (as you could probably tell
by the entry I wrote this morning). I hopped out of bed,
got myself and the girls ready, packed our cooler and
beach bag and set out. We met up with Gen and Sam for
coffee and so I could give them some baby stuff I wanted
them to have before Cyrus gets here. Then, the girls and I
headed out on our adventure. Well, it wasn't really an
adventure, we've done it before. But, it was different and
I just got done telling you how much I needed to do
something different.

We went to Bainbridge Island for the day. There's a park
there that I like a lot because it has actual sand (rare
for a Washington State beach), it's wide open and it's
rarely ever crowded. Fay Bainbridge State Park. It's got
the basics all parks need to be good. A beautiful natural
attraction (in this case, a clean beach), a bathroom and
free parking. I'm sold.

I brought along Kiki's play yard, but she was such a good
girl, I hardly needed it. She played in the shallows.
Right where the waves broke, dug in the muddy sand and
hunted for clams. Annie ditched me straight away and
headed for the first group of kids she could find. A
couple brothers there with their grandmother. They dug a
huge hole in the smud (that would be a combination of sand
and mud. I can't explain the texture and color of the smud
at this beach. It's very thick and dark). I took pictures
(which I will be adding to my myspace as soon as I'm done
writing this). It was just a lot of fun.

I got a pretty good sunburn. I didn't think I'd gotten
that much sun when we left the beach, because I wasn't
sore. We got there a little after noon and left around
4:30pm, so it was definitely enough time to burn. My upper
back, shoulders, arms and chest are positively on fire.
I've got some aloe gel with lidocaine I'm trying to put on
it, but I can't reach my back and I've got no one here to
help me. Annie tried before she went to sleep, but her
little hands tickle for some reason. I don't know why. She
got a kick out of making me giggle!

After the beach, we went over to Gen and Sam's for a
little barbecue. Just hamburgers, hot dogs and the like.
It was more fun than just coming straight home from the
beach like I'd planned. The 4th of July just isn't the
same without a little barbecue.

We're lucky to live where we do. We've got a perfect view
of Puget Sound from our back patio, which is were the City
of Port Orchard puts on their fireworks display every
year. So, when we got home from Gen and Sam's around
8:30pm, the girls took a bath, I took a (highly painful)
shower and we sat on the back patio and watch fireworks.
Annie was excited and stayed up to see them for the first
time in years, but Kiki didn't make it. She fell asleep in
my arms, right in the middle. It was adorable. She slumped
over, like she'd been knocked out. So, I looked at her
face and sure enough, she was gone.

Okay, as good as I feel, I must come back to reality. I
have to open tomorrow. On that note, I'll say ciao and go
update my albums on my myspace page! Ciao (again).
