A Day of Penance

****

Sometimes when we pray for miracles, what we're really
praying for is help in skipping steps, for shortcuts. The
simple act of acceptance, of returning to each step of our
path, can often bring us the miracle we need. Then we see
the truth. The real miracle is one always available to
each of us: it's the miracle of acceptance. We can go
where we want to go, one step at a time.

Melody Beattie

Anyone can carry his burden, however hard, until
nightfall. Anyone can do his work, however hard, for one
day.

Robert Louis Stevenson

I included two passages tonight because I didn't write
last night, and would you like to know WHY I didn't write
last night? BECAUSE IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY. I'm now,
officially a quarter century old. 25. I had a wonderful
time. It was my best birthday by far. The only thing is, I
can't tell you about it. Sorry :)

Today has been a day of penance for the fun I had last
night. A Long Island iced tea and two shark bites came
back to revisit me in the form of a massive hangover this
morning. I seriously thought I was going to die, but I
didn't. Now (at 8:30pm), I'm finally starting to feel much
better.

I'm behind on my laundry. I'll have to finish it tonight,
or it won't get done until next weekend and that would
violate my "NEVER AGAIN" pledge to myself. Since I can't
tell you about all the fun I had last night, I guess I'll
just go back to my laundry...Ciao!
